At first, I actually thought that this is what the Razorback did.

I am hardly a sniper, but I had the razorback and when it broke I flipped out.
I like the earbuds... cause when I'm the Engi it's like he's working hard while listening to music ;___; He needs some pleasure lol

I still think that's what the Razorback should have done. Not break, and deal damage. Possibly even lower melee damage in general.

Oh man I love doing this as a Spy...stupid Snipers with a Razorback don't even know when it breaks and I just wait until I'm free to hit again...Actually this happened to me not too long ago...guy was dominating me and I sneaked my way into their base and up to their battlements and I broke the shield. Then, I kid you you not...I waited for like three minutes for him to react! He did nothing! Just kept zooming in! Backstabbing him was almost sad but worth the revenge kill.

do spies even take damedge from stabbing the razorback? if so I never noticed it while breaking it so it cant be that much...

SleepDepJoel In reply to Nazgul100 [2011-01-17 04:32:03 +0000 UTC]
Nope. Spies just can't backstab or switch weapons for several seconds. Also, the only clue the shield has been broken is a faint buzzing sound; easily drowned by the sounds of the battlefield.

Really? cos whenever I break it it makes this loud "breaking" noise and I alsoways think: how the fuck can they not notice that?
I dont know myself because whenever I play sniper I just tend to keep a lookout and listen for the sound of an uncloaking spy so I can throw jarate at them.
I think the shield gives a fake sense of security, because as spy one can just use the gun to kill you instead of backstabbing.

I think that should be an actual feature of the earbuds in-game; wearing them should make it harder to hear footsteps and other soft sounds.

If at first you don't succeed, duct tape a car battery to your back the next time and see what happens.

if seen some spies that wait for the sniper to take a shot so that the sniper doesn't realize that their razorback is gone and can get another backstab

Best way to track spies for me is to use the Jarate and Tribalman's shiv.

Best part about that razor back is how it boosts their confidence against spies. If I can sneak that close to them and they have that damn shield, my revolver stabs them with bullets.
