I like this a lot. Haiku does help one grow as a poet because of the limitations the haiku line scheme sets for rambling on and on. Personally, I don't practice haiku because I find it limits my creative flow. I only write poems so I can get things off my chest. I think you have a future in the whole "haiku thing" because even with its limitations, you still seem to have a creative flow going. Plus, it all makes sense. My haikus are pretty rough and I haven't written a serious one for about three years. I don't write them anymore...not at all, come to think of it. Oh, well. Good job!

I feel the same way; I ramble on and on and on if I can, especially in my writing and poetry, so I'm trying to control that. I just wrote part of a personal autobiography and spent about a page of it describing my love for all types of movies. 
And you really don't ramble!!
