I actually draw a bunch of characters that use bubblegum a lot, so if you want I can lend a few tips. But basically, what I do is I draw a circle for the bubble, then color in the bubble in its own color (if it's colorless, skip this I guess), then instead of drawing on the shine I just erase whatever is there.
