I have always been fascinated with the Dark Continent. It is incredibly huge and wild. Not enough time in a life to explore even a miniscule portion of it. My top priorities would be the many magnificent waterfalls where the land has subsided and collided at the faultlines.

We have seen only the tiniest little piece of it but it is indeed wild and with the most magnificent wealth of flora and fauna. Having read your journal entry, I'm sure you would love it. We saw only one waterfall, by no means the largest but, fortunately it was just after very heavy rainfall and it was putting on a wonderful display for us!

In the Smokies, there are hundreds of cascades in all sizes from tiny to gargantuan which come out in the wet season and go away during the dry times. However, none of these can even begin to compare with what is found in the deep jungles of the Dark Continent.

Sadly I shall have to be content with seeing others images and exercising a little imagination. It's highly unlikely that I will ever see any of these magnificent waterfalls.

There are some really nice motorcar routs in the Smokies where many of these waterfalls are on display, no hiking required.

Indeed, the road stretches out before us, always going, just going, away always away

The good news is that, sooner or later, on that never ending road we will meet someone travelling in the opposite direction!
You can see why Nelson Mandela entitled his autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom". I must admit I thought of him when I gave this photo a title. Thanks for making the comment/observation

Certainly my friend. I am a traveler at heart, a driver of lonely roads but as Robert James Waller once wrote "One good road is enough"
I have written a lot about that subject too.

I see what you mean: having just had a quick look at your literature deviations. Many of them have the common theme of a journey of some kind.

Yes, a lot of them are a journey through one's emotions from good times to bad or the other way around I hope you will stop by again and read some more when you can

It WAS a hell of a trip. Loved every minute of it. Stayed with friends in Cape Town and of course they know all the best places to visit!
Yes - can see the similarities to your photo.

They're not exactly the same but share aspects.
Thanks for faving it.

As for the pic you asked me (Momos) I've gone thru the files and YAAAY!
I've got another pic of it, and closer.

Nope because it was a late afternoon shot and the day was cloudy but you'll dig it.
