appreciate any constructive criticism this took me forever...

i think its finally finished except a few minor details in the grass.

inspired by the book Cosmos an the Psyche by Richard Tarnas and Robert graves Greek Myhts.
This Painting depicts the archetypes of Prometheus, the rebellious Titan who stole fire from the gods, and the Dionysus, the god of ecstasy and intoxication personified here by a very magic mushroom.

It rather symbolizes a hell of a hallucination after taking stimulants (shrooms probably ) and perhaps a very big headache soon to follow.
I think this because the colorful and grinning shroom is rising you out of the dirt, infested with worms and other vermin, the drag of every day of the real world.
You're probably (a little) unhappy about certain points in your life.
The aura around his head suggests your belief in a Godlike being, positive or negative I cannot tell, perhaps it's guarding you or just plain peeping on you.

interesting
though I always interpret my art as an outward expression of ideas that come my way. i fail to see the outside expression looking in.
thanks for your insight

thanks
you know i never intended for him to come out so psycho looking. but i guess its fitting since the mushroom brings out the shadowy side of our nature. Which hardly seems dark when preoccupied by our friendly fun guy's

Omg it's an evil mushroom! Well then, great concept! I would suggest you experiment different concepts and techniques when you paint, because that way you can learn so much new things on your own and it's so much more fun!

Cool! Great symbolism, the "head" of the shroom could be more shaded, because the rest is shaded, too, but in total a great picture, the colours and the motif work together well.
...and i like mushrooms xD

yeah I'm having a hard time finding the right brush to get the shading effect that i like. I used up the brush that I did the flames with. and its been difficult to reproduce the same results.
thanks for the tip.

Robert graves is good. Its partially his writing that influenced me to paint Dionysus as a mushroom.

This looks really creepy, nice job with the flame. Once again, like I said in your WIP, not entirely sure what its supposed to be, because I have never heard of what you wrote in the description, I might have to check it out, it seems interesting. Overall I like the color and details. Nice work.
