Just a quick question: what approach did you use in modelling him (specifically his hands). Nurbs or such? I must confess I'm somewhat of a newbie when it comes to modelling...

Oh man, I never thought an artist I respected would sink to the lows of siding with a person who is using photos of his crying child as emotional black-mail...I'm keeping an open mind...I'm not joining the hysteria.

Honestly, I thought the photo of his child was really tacky.
Currently I'm just much more digusted with some of the other things that I've seen recently.
I hope his damn lawyers handle this soon - if this gets drawn out into 2006-2007 - well, it won't be nice.

Okay so let me get this strait you like the idea spyed has of getting ride of the bad artist with not that many page views (which would be you) and only keeping the good ones for profit? Thats pretty stupid cause if he does do that then you will get kicked off also. Mabye you should read his journal and jarks. Its pretty clear that you dont know all that is going on fully. Spyed is turing DA into a corprate thing and we are the ones who will get totally screwed.

no... spyed is not turning deviantart into a corporate thing.. the subscribers like you are doing it, and the people that profits from deviantart.. the ones that buy and sell their stuff through it. Im not saying that subscribe or sell prints is bad... but thats the reason that this community has been turned into a corporation... you have a subscription dont you?

I didnt say you werent a good artitst But what i meant is that spyed wants to get rid of the bad artists (the ones with not alot of page views; which would be me and you plus hundreds of others) and keep the good ones for profit. No where in that comment did i say that you were a bad artist and no where in that it did i say that i was a good/better one then you or anyone else. I obviously hate spyed for saying that crap because i would be one of the many that would be kicked off/out for little page views. Hes turning everything corporatate and ruining the community/DA
I think that by him getting rid of the artist that are so called *bad* then its like bitting the hand that feeds cause most of us are subscribers. And besides you only get 10% for prints anyway!

where did spyed say that.. i didnt read that in any comment or journal. i think that he didnt say that for the same reasons you are telling, the business here are the "bad" artists with low pageviews, for the subscriptions and everything else.. a business man wouldnt do that in a million years, because for the corporation, keeping us here is the real business... so, i think that he didnt say that.. if he did.. would you say me please where did he wrote that.. or it is just "somebody told me" thing?

May I ask what Jark did that was so wrong? Have you read the man's journal? And why hasn't spyed said a word of what was going on? Has he supplied us with the truth? No. As far as I can tell.. Jark is not turning anyone against another person. He is not forcing us to take sides. We are people who have free wills.. and we will choose to a 'side' .. or stay neutral like some people are doing. I, personally, believe Jark.. and his fight to get what is rightfully his back. I, personally, believe that spyed is decieving and is only interested in the site because of profits and glory.. that is not the kind of person I would trust.

i have read jarkΒ΄s journal... you said that spyed hasnt said a word... but jark did say something? "i got fired, but i cant tell you why" jark isnt saying the truth.... hes turning everyone against spyed.. even using his son... havent you see the photo with his child crying..OMG... its unbelievable!
Jark is intersted in profitting too... you trust him, but you dont know his intentions...

Spyed has bounced around and avoided to actually say anything worth meaning. Jark did give us more answers and more history about what is going on. I am currently writing a journal on the matter. As for the picture, yes I have seen it and no I do not think it's 'unbelievable', and no I do not blieve that he is using his son to 'blackmail' anyone. His disclaimer states that:
*DISCLAIMER*: this deviation is in no way to be considered a personal attack on any of the parties involved in "this situation." it is merely here to depict the unintended consequences of ones actions; those that are never considered when decisions are made and implemented. this image is not staged and is not intended to be used as some way to rally the masses; art is emotion and this is nothing but pure, raw, emotions pouring out of someone affected by this severity of the situation.
As Jark puts it, and it is my true belief as any artist should believe is that 'Art is emotion' and this was his art that shows an emotion. This is how I would feel if something like this would happen to me. And this would be the way I would express myself. And Jark states that it's not intended to be used as some way to rally the masses, and that it was not considered as a personal attack.
As for Jark profitting.. I have no doubt that he would have to profit from some way from deviantART, Inc. As a co-founder I would expect him to. But there is a difference, that I feel, and others feel is that Jark, unlike Spyed, wants to give back more to the community. He actually cares what happens. He is not just in it for the money or for the glory, but for the art and for the community. So like Jark, we are not trying to 'rally the masses'. We as deviants should be focused on one thing, and that is the truth and trying to find out what the truth is. But as legal matters go the parties are not able to tell us the full truth of the situation, but I believe in Jark. And if you wish to decide otherwise, hey.. that's your opinion. And I am glad to be able to have a civil chat with another.

thanks for your response.. i like to discuss things without getting mad or start throwing tomatoes against each other. The thing that i really hate is the attitude of the people.. people who "supports jark" and dont have a clue about the situation.... everybodyΒ΄s saying that jark is talking and that spyed is silent.. but jark hasnt said anything that clears the situation... he cant talk about the true reasons, and until i know the true reasons im not taking party here... the fact that jark wrote a disclaimer doesnt mean that putting that photo is a mistake, because he wrote:
"this image is not staged and is not intended to be used as some way to rally the masses"
but obviously that is what that image did, and i believe that jark knew very well what this image was going to do, because he wrote it in that disclaimer.. and i think that it was precisely what he intended to do.
Jark deserves respect for what he has done for this community, i think that what he has done here is priceless... this community is the greatest art community of all the internet... i think this is better than cgtalk, and i think that in part, that is thanks to jark, but the way he is handling this situation is what i dont like.. and i dont like the way the community is moving in this particullar issue, because everything else is great... another thing.. i think that this pro-jark movement will disappear after august seventh,and everybody will forget it... or at least the majority that is moving pro-jark just for inertia.

Abuse?? I don't think you know Β°jark nearly well enough to accuse him for abuse. And neither you or I can determine "what is art." Heck, a shit-smeared Jesus statue was hung in the met, for crying out loud. Just drop it.
