I drove home in a fog.My mind was
circling, circling, circling
Draining me.
I didn't know how I would
make it home
Fearfully trying to see
It was then I heard
My son
Breathing
Sleeping
Peacefully beside me.
I realized, instantly,
This boy was by far
the most important thing.
Bigger than me.
Worth more than my life or my happiness, love, pain or anything.
Everything
My world fell
violently down
into focus in
dazzling clarity.
A peace settled over me,
A piece of me broke off
Fell to the road, and I
Left it far behind me.
