Indé - is a Apache word meaning person/people
Los Sol'paaya - meaning The Sun Peoples or People of the Sun, mixture/union of the Pai (Yavapai/Havasupai/Hualapai) and Spanish peoples
Montezuma - named after the Tohono O'odham mythic hero/god
Mapimí - Spanish translation of native word Mapeme meaning high mountain
La Laguana - means the lagoons (has rich farming lands)
Sonora - similar as OTL
Chihuahua - similar as OTL
Sinaloa - same as OTL
Jalisco - similar as OTL
Río Grande - named after the river Río Bravo del Norte/Río Grande
Nuevo Santander - named after Santander Municipality/City in Cantabria which is in Spain
Tepehua - renamed after the Tepehuán people who inhabited there
Zacatecas - same as OTL
San Luis Potosí - similar as OTL
La Huasteca - named after the Téenek (Huastec) people
Veracruz - similar as OTL (slightly smaller)
Hidalgo - similar as OTL
Colima - similar as OTL
Purépecha - named after the P'urhepecha people (more of them survive maybe? Iréchikwa Empire as a vassal state? similar deal to Tlaxcala situation?)
Guerrero - similar to OTL
Mēxihca - similar to OTL (Spanish aren't allowed/able/or is stopped from fucking up the lake, allowing it to remain/be restored = no water problems for future "Mexico City " = beautiful city with canals and shit )
Tlaxcala - similar to OTL (slightly bigger)
Puebla - similar to OTL (much smaller)
Ñuu Savi - Oaxaca is renamed after homeland of the Mixtec people, meaning the land of the rain
Río Chyapas - named after the river that runs throughout the state
Los Altos - means the heights in Spanish (is mix of mestizo & native peoples of the Soconusco region
Petén Itzá - named after the Lake Petén Itzá where the Mayan capital of Nojpetén sits, for the Kingdom of Itza
Yúukatan - similar as OTL - Yucatec Maya translation (the Yucatán doesn't split up as much and keeps a greater Mayan influence/population/culture
Guatemala - similar to OTL (Captaincy General of Guatemala doesn't facture as much)
Miskuteria - mixed of English settlers and the Miskitos/Miskut people
Nicaragua - Similar as OTL (Captaincy General of Nicaragua y Costa Rica doesn't split apart, drops Costa Rica from the name. note- maybe hybridization of the name would be better or common name for the region?? named after someone famous??)

Labrador - similar to OTL (splits from Newfoundland)
Newfoundland - similar to OTL
Eeyou Istchee - East Cree meaning the People's Land (Grand Council of the Crees)
Wînipekw - Southern-East Cree meaning Hudson Bay
Nēhiyaw-Pwat - Plains Cree for Cree-Assiniboine known as the Iron Confederacy
Cascadia - named after the mountains/region (mixed race state of Metis and natives)
X̱aaydag̱a Gwaay.yaay - name of the X̱aayda/Haida nation
Ísland - native name for the island (brought by Seward/Seward like person who knows cuz of butterflies)
Dënéndeh - Dené/Athabaskan name meaning our land
Alyaska - similar to OTL
Iñupiat Nunaat - name of the Iñupiat's nation/homeland
Kalaallit Nunaat - similar to OTL (native name for Greenland)
Inuuk Nunangat - similar to OTL - Inuuk/Inuit name meaning the place where Inuit live

messed with the borders in the New Mexico region - gave more lands to both the Arenosa, Navajo and Pueblo
shifted the split in Cuba to match Captaincy General of Cuba's descriptions/map
gave the Blackfoot more land to the north
gave Canada more land to the north & took land away from the Anishinaabe
messed with map colors
