Adult specimens do not usually exceed 120 cm. As for the life expectancy of the royal python, it can be around 20 or 30 years of age. It is stoutly built with a relatively small head. The scales are smooth in texture, and both sexes have anal spurs surrounding the cloaca, although in males they are usually larger. The color pattern is typically patterned black
