I didn't think switching to a more realistic style would be that much work, but it turns out that SO much stuff doesn't look the same under this type of lighting. I still have a ton of work to do before my demonesses and other characters are ready to drop into scenes, but I spent yesterday and today reworking Sahmika to try and look her best. She's slightly less toony now with better muscular definition and her skin detail has been improved slightly. Anyway, nothing special here, just a test under a very bright and realistic HDRI (it completely blew out the sclera detail which bugs me, but it made everything else look better).Image title taken from a budget bag of cat litter that had that slogan. Thanks, I did make her eyes smaller than before, but I think when I make them smaller than this, she starts looking less cute and more serious or mean. She can squint when she needs to look mean.Β Β

Awww! She's beautiful, Snowy! You did a great job on her, and I love this! I see what you mean about the sclera, but I'm not very helpful with that, I'm afraid. I'm only just starting to baby-step my way into Iray right now myself, and I'm not even as far yet as you've gotten. LOL

Thank you very much! I've spent so much time experimenting with Iray directional lighting and settings, and in the end, all I really had to do to get these results was dropping an HDRI in the Environment panel and making a few Tone Mapping adjustments. This light was really bright and I guess that's what made the scleras so bright, but if I tried editing them too much, they wouldn't look right under this lighting. Anyway, I hope you have good luck with Iray and don't need to take as much time to learn it as I did.Β
