Description Test render of Ronail inn, slight color correction in Photoshop.

This was a very good learning experience, and I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. I ended up using many custom textures, making an ambient transmap for the windows, displacement maps for the rocks and other elements, and digging through lots and lots of random medieval crap from many different sets to fill the environment. I hope that Smacky's home and the tavern will come out nicely when I get to them too.

In a 'real' render, there will be fae in most of the plants (the ones in the pink flowerpot will basically be the inn's porch light), the signs might be warning visitors of demonesses or be advertisements for Molo's House of Purchasables (another environment I need to make), and the flags will show Ronail's emblem (which I probably have to learn Illustrator to make, so that's going to have to wait for a bit). Horse also needs to be tied to the post, although I might replace those two old posts with a basic "H" hitching post.

Thanks for taking a look!

SnowSultan... I have to no words to express how awesome it turned out.

It's very realistic, but remains a fantasy-themed building at one time. It's very detailed and pleasing to eyes. Is this your own model? My suggestion is to plant a few trees around. I could see not-so-legally-inclined individuals clinging onto the roof ... It's going to be full of life. Would be let me feature it once you're done please?

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it! The base building is from Faveral's Medieval City set, but I changed some of the textures and added all the...as I put it, "medieval crap" all around. Certainly you can feature it, thanks very much! I don't know if I'll be adding much to it soon though, it will actually go next to a tavern which will have a tree and a lot of other stuff all around. Eventually it will be part of a larger detailed block, but that's about all I'm going to do on it for now. Thanks again!

Awesome, SnowS!
And very inspiring. I wish I had the patience to customizing textures as you do. One day I'll try.

Thanks! Oh I think you already know more about texturing than I do. I still don't quite understand how you use textures in Photoshop, I do all of my texturing before rendering.

One day, I'll try to do a mini tutorial. I can not write very well in english, but I will try.
Basically you put the texture over the image and switches the layer to multiply, overlay etc. ..
You can do the same with brushes.
I was talking about changing the texture of the clothes (3d), put decorations on a outfit, change the texture of the sidewalk ....

Ah, thanks for explaining. I did not think it was that simple because your images always look so complex. It's not so hard in 3D either: if the object using a tiling texture, you just find one that's better and use it. If it has it's own texture, you just have to find the area you want to change (which sometimes is the hardest part) and then paint over that, save (as a copy) and apply it to the texture. That's basically what my seam guides are for.
