Description I like it when tests turn out decent without any postwork.

This angle doesn't show some of the background stuff, like more barrels and bags, a ladder, stool, and flowers in the fountain water, but I thought it was more interesting. There were originally flowerpots on all of the square posts surrounding the fountain, but I thought they made it look too cluttered.

I'm considering three more additions for this area; wanted posters on the long left wall (just have to find a nice template), vines on some of the buildings, and two statues on the upper level of the fountain. I'm not sure the statues will fit well, so that might not work here. I would like to know where you think vines would grow though - would they climb the buildings from the ground up or be placed higher? Even in the fountain? I don't see a lot of climbing vines in person.

Thanks very much for taking a look! Your ideas are always appreciated.

You'd definitely need some sort of board. How else would they be attached to the wall? The board could reasonably be attached to the wall, but separate posters? My instinct says board. Very small statues, maybe. And the vines, well they would be coming from cracks between the cobble and the buildings, at the foundations of the buildings. Tiny weeds also tend to work their way up from those kind of cracks. Flower boxes on the windows, definitely. Some, not necessarily all of them. It's certainly coming along though! Very nice work.

I thought the posters could just be nailed to the wall, but OK. Will try the vines from the foundations and the flower boxes when I work on this again too. Thank you very much for the suggestions!

Thanks very much! Might take a short break and move on to other things now, but I'm glad you like it and hopefully I'll be able to use it in the future.

You're very welcome
It's necessary to take a break from a big project, you can always dig it out of the mothballs from time to time

So amazing! I can't imagine the amount of work you must have put in this scene alone! Great work!

I actually spent more time experimenting and thinking about what should go where than I did placing objects, haha. Thanks very much!

Ahaha, I can understand that, it also happened to me once on a picture.

And you are very welcome!

I believe wanted posters would be a nice touch, but I'm not sure the wall is the best place for them. You seem to be placing at least a partial emphasis on decor, and that suggests the builders and/or monarchy have an artistic knack. Perhaps a message board would be utilized as to not create an eyesore, so to speak. Regardless, you made the right call about the additional flower pots: they would have, indeed, cluttered the area. I'm not sure the statues would work either, as they would also take away from the fountain, and I agree with Eve about the vines.

Thanks very much! Hm, I've never seen a message board used in medieval times, did they really use them? Good idea though. I'm still debating the statues, I do like this clean look and don't want to clutter it up. Will just experiment with little ones and see how it looks. Thanks again.

Well, in non-fiction medieval times, official information was spread via town criers. It was also discussed in taverns, pubs, inns and guilds. Posters, message boards and other such avenues were kind of useless since most peasants were illiterate. You're creating a fictional town for a story, however, so it really depends on how realistic you want it to be, and thus my suggestion of a message board.

Good point, that actually helps. I'm going to make the people of this city a little more educated, as they've been able to avoid falling for the lies of Saera and the demonesses while those who were less educated and more suggestible were not. Thanks a lot.

Coming right along hon! I think the wanted posters would be a great addition, as would a statue or two. Tho perhaps 4 small statues, one at each corner of the top of the fountain there would work? Kinda like lil guardians of the square almost like gargoyle types? Just what comes to mind off the top of my head As for the vines, I'd have to do some research on that myself. I typically have them grow out of the ground, but as you have the area next to the buildings cobbled, I'm not too sure how well that would work.

Thanks very much! Yeah, maybe smaller statues at the top would work better. I will experiment with that. I'd thought about the statues being maidens or heroic men or something, so we'll see. Actually, the brown path leading up to the fountain will be cobblestone, the rest is sort of a partly-rough ground texture...but yeah, I don't know exactly how vines behave. Much appreciated!
