a feline like race from one of my favorite sci-fi writers, Larry Niven. The Kzinti were bipedal, eight feet tall, very aggressive. Just your cat 'standing' here reaching out and you talking about your gnawed on hand made me think of them

Ah, at first I pictured Na'vi, but those first two look like Kilrathi from the Wing Commander games.

LOL!! My cat Candy does this too, but she looks more like a meerkat then. She's small and does it mostly to sniff at things like new flowers etc. But she gets special treats each evening during supper and these she takes from the hands too.
