I use gimp ^^ its quite similar to photoshop although photoshop is just that little bit better but still I do love using gimp.

Wow! I love the shading! Its so clean and smooth

I use an airbrush but there is a trick with layers (draw all the shading seperatly on a layer and in one dark colour (I sugest dark purple) and change the type of layer to multiply) then the shading mixes in with the colour behind the shading layer. (you'll have to play around with it to get used to the way of shading)

Ahh, I use PaintShop Pro XI so it may be a little harder to follow your instructions XD However, the methods do seem do-able in most programmes so I'll give it a go
