"I'm sorry!" I manage to screech. I am, too. She turned her life around,became a force for good and I doubt her. I don't know why she did what she did... but I don't need to know. Tears come out of my eyes that have nothing to do with the pain -

"ARRRRRRRRRRRRR..... er....ahhh!" I say. The pain is gone. I collapse to the deck, exhausted, crying.

"Why is she crying?" Nadia asks, concerned. "Can't you help her?"
"Contrition,"she says. "Guilt. I removed the pain but she has to come to terms with betrayal."
"She was trying to help me," Nadia complains. "That should be me down there, not her."
"You need to learn," Nyssa says. "Her suffering because of your bad judgement will hurt you more."
"She loves you," the XO says. "There has to be a better way."

"I can elevate her to the XO," the Captain considers. "but can I trust you?"

"We're not strong enough to resist you," Nadia points out.

"But you're still considering insubordination," she spits back. "Would you have doubted a previous Captain?"

"Well, not exactly - "
"What about Lydia MacAvoy?" she asks. "She deceived the Confederacy for years. Did you ever doubt her, her overwhelming power?"
"Well - "

"I've been honest with you since I arrived," she says. "Unlike MacAvoy or a Druann Richardson who hoodwinked you both. Maybe I should have fooled you since you are so easily fooled - "
"I - "
"It's my fault," I cry, hugging her feet. "I am so so sorry."

She helps me to my feet, touching my temple, and the pain and sorrow melts away. "Go back to our quarters," she says kindly. "We'll talk later."
