It's important to settle this planet. Not just because the growing population needs it. But to show these lifeforms that their attack on Monica will not stand.
I will avenge you, Monica.
I take my responsibility as Empyrean One seriously. I will clean this vermin off this world so it is safe for humanity. And while I'm grateful for what Natalie did, I can't have her emerge the hero.
That's my role.
Since that first attack, Tara and Megan analyzed how the banshees operate. Interdimensional beings, somewhat out of phase with this reality. But somehow dependent on this ecosystem.
Which means they'll be back.
They're not in a hurry to be back, though, since they know what awaits them.

Swapping out the thiccannon for a modified psirifle that will kill them with one burst - thank you, Tara! - I drop them out of the sky when they come back to... feed. They don't get the chance to attack me anymore.
The time waiting has been useful. I've analyzed what the banshees do here and how and why they killed Monica. And more importantly how to resurrect her in spite of any antithread they generate. Once this planet is safe, I'll let my people back out on the planet.
Not yet.
They are safe in the stronghold. And will stay that way.
There's been an offshoot in the Church galaxywide. Worshiping me as the Queen Mother. I take care of my children. The risk is mine. Mine alone.
I will protect you all, my children.

So I am here lying in wait.
Checking in on Natalie, she is still asleep. The grief caught up with her regarding Monica's death. I gave her the comfort of rest. And when this world is safe, I will give her the comfort of her wife returning.
