Dear Fans,
First I must apologize for my extremely vague status update I made last night I was very upset and I did not feel like explaining why I took down my oc video but in hindsight it only seemed to cause more confusion. For the past two months I have been receiving more and more negative comments and as I have progressed more and more into the school year I have felt more stressed and more depressed. And the reason I am bothered by these hate comments is not because they are something dumb like "OMG KILL URSELF" it's because most of them were usually well thought out. It's because they said things like "you make fun of kids" and "you are making artists feel awful" that made me feel bad about myself. I realized that some of the people who hated me were in the moral right of the situation. Here's the summary of why I am upset.
I don't want to be Leafyishere.
There are parallels between me and Leafyishere that people seem to notice that I really don't want to emulate.
-Being an obnoxious angry person
-Ranting on other people
-Having a cancerous fanbase
People always say I am rude, disgusting, and what I am doing is bad and I have started to believe them. Even as my sub counts grow I feel like my morals shrink. And the more I am told I am a bad person and the more I believe them the more I feel angry and upset. During this time I often get suicidal thoughts and I become extremely angry. And it does not help that I am constantly asked to review bad and stupid things that often make me feel even more angry about the world. That is why I am often obnoxious and rude. And I'm sorry I'm like that way.
But I have this terrible conflict. Because when I do things that are funny and don't actually hurt anyone like "Sparkle Twinkle Sprinkle Dinkle" and "The Edgiest Vlog on the Internet" and "reading bad fanfiction from fans" I feel better about myself and the people who do watch them seem to enjoy them. But those videos get barely any views. And it doesn't help either when people say "okay this was fun but make more Browsing Deviantart." But Browsing Deviantart has become a chore and each time I review stuff there I always manage to offend someone.
And many of you may ask "well why don't you review art from fans?" well that is because browsing stuff from fans is usually boring and to be honest it is really not fun for me. It feels like a chore.
The last thing is that I feel like I am attracting a very misbehaved fanbase. I feel like my entire fanbase is made up of 8 year olds who will attack other people I review even when I tell them specifically not to. And there are so many nuances and explanations in my videos that seem to fly completely past your heads. I once made a joke with the word "Autism" in it. And that joke wasn't even directed at anyone in particular it barely meant anything. And I got many comments saying things like "Do you hate autistic people?" as if they didn't even understand jokes at all. And in my recent "How to make an oc" video many of you got upset after I said things like "I think that having big eyes in a character is overused." When I specifically stated before that statement that "I do not think any of these traits are bad but they are overused" and some people interpreted that as "If you make a character with big eyes that is bad." Which is not what I said or meant at all. I know this might hurt you guys a bit but I am going to be honest. You guys can be really fucking stupid sometimes. And if you are offended by that statement than you can leave because I don't need people that can be so easily offended like that in my life.
These are my problems. And they all stem from Browsing Deviantart. This is why I think I am going to end the series. I know lots of people are going to unsubscribe from my channel but so be it. I have decided that I don't think I will permanently leave YouTube or Deviantart. I will still probably make videos related to Deviantart but I will no longer be pointing out specific users. Another reason I took down the "How to make good Ocs" video was because it had some editing errors and things I didn't like in it. I will probably re-upload an edited version of that video next week. But after that I think I am going to take a break.
Hopefully this explained things for you guys. I'm sorry for being such a fucking douchebag.

I appreciate that you're open about this stuff. Do whatever feels most comfortable to you, your true fans will understand. You may lose a few subs but personally, I'd rather not have a bunch of kids who are only there to encourage behaviors you don't approve of. I understand this is a tad old, and you have revived the series, but I have an idea: mayhaps you could do episodes similar to your reviews of WalkingMelonsAAA and the like where you go over some artwork of people you feel have talent and need more recognition, or maybe just browse artwork you find decent in general and give pointers. It'll attract less haters (though I totally agree with your stance on fetish art and recolors and such. The former needs to be labeled properly so minors can avoid it, and the latter is lazy and practical thievery), and give underrated artists more views: a win-win situation. ^_^

welp, i am going to be honest -- i'm new here, i'm going to be one comment in a sea of what, nearly 400? but, i can understand what you're trying to say because the reason why so many people who are angry and like memes or make them -- we all make that joke about our Crippling Depression™. i guess that's true, haha. we find comfort in memes and anger because we're salty angry fucks who hate the world. it is fine to feel depressed and suicidal sometimes because anyone who only finds enjoyment in memes and laughing at "cringey" things probably feel that way too.

maybe I'm biased, but I do not see you as a LeafyIsHere type person. I used to enjoy leafy, a lot actually, but at some point between then and now I started despising him. Yet, I really love your Browsing Deviant Art videos. I do not believe that you are becoming a LeafyIsHere.
And about the commenters on YouTube, the comment section is getting worse and worse. Maybe I'm being cynical, but everyone is so over-sensitive these days. It's easy to get to your head, and I don't blame you in the least for it.

Okay so, fessing up, I think I'm one of the people he mentions in this. I only sent him a message once, though. I made the point of him possibly hurting kids because children who make bad OCs are still people. Little people, but people nonetheless.
It's horrible to see this and realize that I may have contributed in some way to your depression. I just knew you really are better than making kids afraid of drawing what they want. I wasn't trying to hurt you, and I'm glad you haven't done anything bad or permanent to yourself.
If you want to talk, maybe vent, just note me and I'll send you places you can contact me from. No one should ever apologize for being depressed, and I'm very sorry I contributed to your depression. I truly didn't mean to hurt you, I'm a big fan and you're one of the only youtubers I feel comforting bringing up grievances to. While i do find your videos entering I have to say I much enjoyed that vlog videos and the videos that's aren't total related to devintART. Much more than your once juts criticizing art and stuff since I mean it just leads to like you said a bunch of people that flag and attack really is more just innocent people doing what they like sure the fetish art should be censored and such. But still the amount of comments those poor people get from your fans just hovering over them like hawk is crazy.

Stay cool dude, don't get stressed. Take your time, eat some tasty food, and if it helps really just ignore everything. Sometimes shutting yourself down is really helpful (you still need to talk the bad stuff to someone to get it out of the system) but really it helps, it'll keep you a little bit relaxed and chill. There's no reason to quit just because a few people can't tell the difference between criticism and hate. Quitting is what those people want you to do. I'm not even sure how you can compare yourself to Leafy. He makes jokes about the kids he comments over, sometimes being a bit too harsh for a kid to handle but all you're doing is saying what you think and giving tips on how they could improve. Maybe you should put a disclaimer in the beginning of videos that say it's meant as constructive criticism and not hate? Also, I believe that for every review that may not be nice you could point out something good about the drawing which, you kinda already do, but IDK maybe people will like it better? Please understand that the 8 year olds will be 8 year olds. Maybe when you make videos related to DA don't mention the artist's username.
But honestly, I love your videos and I know that a lot of other people do too.
Most people can be mature, and accept your choice gracefully, but a lot of people act as if they are 6 and want everything done their way. Understand that people can be mean out there. Just because the way you look, act, speak, anything.
Most youtubers get hate on everything that they do. All of their videos at least get 1 dislike or comment that says, " OMG YOU SHOULDN"T HAVE AN OPINION JUST BECAUSE I LIKE THiS FANDOM AND I THINK I'M A KING/QUEEN SO I CAN DO ANYTHING TO YOUR VIDEOS AND PERSOnaL LIFE!!!!"

We all do our best to make a difference in the world, or we should, and you are certainly someone who is doing your best to do what you do. To the point where it's negatively affecting your physical and mental health. Critiquing artwork (HONESTLY) to help others improve is not something you see often anywhere. Some people say you're too harsh but after watching nearly all of the Browsing Deviantart series, you're merely giving your opinions as a human being should be allowed to do and giving pretty good advice for those with potential that you can see to improve Unlike most people who criticize artwork, it's good-intentioned and entertaining and honestly from where I'm standing. You and everything you do is important and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They don't know you, you know you.
