[IDENTITY]
Personality:
Rindora is quite an eccentric individual, with his strange way of doing things and habit of deceiving others. He seems to do things on a whim, and while he sets certain responsibilities on himself he doesn’t hesitate in resisting something he doesn’t like. He acts like a spoiled child at times, and at others show maturity fitting of someone his age. If you ask his patients, most of them have varying opinions on their doctor, some calling him difficult and selfish, while others believe that he is kind and generous, the model figure of what a doctor should be. Rindora himself doesn’t care much for the views others have for him, it never affected the way he looked at them. He shows no sign of contempt to anyone, yet at the same time no close friendships either. While his friends can believe that he always has their backs, it is quite another story for him. Rindora depends on no one and is beholden to a select few, he treats everyone with an open heart and no desire to get any closer than surface level relationships.
He is much like a cat, whimsical in attitude. He wears his heart on his sleeve and often loses it, leading to more relationships than accounted for, none which left a very deep impact on him. Rindora looks for people that he could truly trust, but at the same time wouldn’t mind too much if he keeps living his life this way, like a leaf floating on the winds of change.
Backstory: Rindora was born a mild mannered and cowardly boy, innocent and naive. Born to a pair of therian parents, there was no doubt that he possessed the same abilities as they did. But Rindora was a slow learner. Even as his friends all had their ‘change’, the moment marking their growth where they shifted into their animal birthrights, Rindora was stuck in the partially humane partially feline form. Cat ears and a tail, human features and body. He was stuck between two worlds, both which seemed to reject him.
For an insecure boy seeking his place in the world, this greatly shocked and impacted Rindora in his younger years. He was often reduced to tears with the teasing of other therian children, the awkward rejection from the human ones, and his childish, deeply held belief that he will never truly belong anywhere. He tried hard to fit in, covering his ears with uncomfortable hats, stuffing his tail into his pants despite the fact that it hurt him, but none of it worked. If anything, he only got more trouble for trying to hide what he was. He didn’t even understand himself, how could he expect others to understand him? Scared and feeling awfully alone in the world, Rindora often ran alone to sob in a corner when no one would play with him, when they teased him for his ears and tail. His parents, no matter how they tried to comfort their child didn’t quite solve Rindora’s problems, and he ultimately decided to simply lie to them about his attitude toward his strange problem. “I’m fine” became his go to statement, practicing smiling in a mirror. Soon his lies became more elaborate, going on about how he played with the children at school today, to the games he thought up of and how they praised him for being the best player in the team. A beautiful fantasy, perhaps, but the more detailed his lies were, the easier he himself was fooled into thinking they were reality.
By the time he reached the age of 18 and had his first metamorphosis, Rindora had already grown into the person he was today. The distrustful, fickle feather of a doctor, who seems to get along with everyone yet at the same time leave a certain amount of distance in between. His childhood experiences have shaped much of his worldview to this day, but Rindora never learned to hate the world. People have their flaws, but it was simply in their nature.
He found his calling at the age of 19, in stark hospital rooms with patients trapped in their lonely beds. Rindora was sharply reminded of the isolation he felt as a child, so he decided in the end, to become a medic and help people. He set up his own clinic in the woods, a small homely place lit with candles and filled with fabric to set hearts at ease. Despite being called an amateur, he learns quickly, documenting every herb he has seen. Rindora is extremely determined to be a good doctor, and despite his flaws is working toward it a step at a time.
Abilities:*
Enhanced senses: Rindora’s senses are extremely sharp, to the point that they’re sensitive to the smallest changes. It’s extremely useful for cooking and hunting, especially for different herbs
Transformation: Rindora can shape shift like all of his kind. As he is a purebred, he is able to transform into a cat for an indeterminate time. While he is a cat, he possesses all the nimbleness and flexibility of a feline, but cannot communicate with humans.
Healing: Rindora is quite skilled with sealing a cut or two without leaving scars, but he prefers to use medicine and herbs rather than magic.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Observant: nothing slips past his senses, even if you believe missing one eye puts him at a disadvantage. His senses have become sharper to compensate for his blind spot, and his reflexes are inhuman.
Flexible: as you would expect from a feline, Rindora is capable of twisting his body into compact spaces, knowing how to extend and contract his every muscle. He could be an escape artist the way he slips out of ropes and chains with ease.
Patient: He has the patient of a saint, and rarely gets angry or frustrated at failure.
Weaknesses
Compulsive liar: self explanatory. Out of every five sentences three of them seem to be a lie, Rindora tells those out of fun and sheer convenience, and has no consideration for the outcomes of those words
Distracted: it is scarily easy to distract him, whether it is a passing butterfly or a shaking grass blade. His feline instincts tell him to pounce on any small moving object, and as a result he often needs a assistant for things like surgery.
Distrustful: It’s hard to get him to open up to someone, and even harder to see past all his false attitudes. Rindora is rarely sincere to a stranger, and doesn’t plan to be anytime soon.
Likes:
Cats: there is a certain type of kinship he shares with the strays of his neighbourhood, and can often be found with one on his lap
Naps: curling up as a cat under the sun and sleeping in a balmy afternoon must be one of the greatest pleasures in the world
Rain: the cool feeling against his skin and the soft pitter patter against the leaves is a calming rhythm that lulls him to sleep
Cooking: another calming hobby. Dicing up the vegetables, the sizzle of the pan and the aroma is a symphony on his senses.
Children: he has a soft spot for them, often keeping a doll or two in his pocket just to entertain his little patients.
Stories: if you can’t afford his fees, a tale would do. Rindora collects strange stories from travellers, especially those who have seen the world beyond the town. While he loves Alamaria and wouldn’t dream of living anywhere else, he sometimes dreams of foreign lands.
Dislikes
Thunder: As much as he likes rain, Rindora often turns tail and runs at claps of thunder. They hurt his ears as much as they strike fear into his heart
Greed: Though he is often Glad to waive fees for those who can’t afford it, Rindora is disdainful when someone tries to cut a bargain when they’re more than capable of paying.
Spice: he has a delicate tongue, and can’t take hot and spicy foods at all.
Relationship Status & Orientation: N/A - Bisexual
[FAMILIAR]
Cheche - Sapling - Stage 1
Cheche, named appropriately for the small chirruping sounds it makes in attempts to communicate is what Rindora fondly thinks of as a teardrop. His, to be clear. The first time he found that sapling was in a hidden corner in the woods where he often hid to cry, despite it not being close to any source of water the little droplet sapling was there nonetheless. What other explanation can there be? The sapling is Rindora’s most trusted companion, and often mirrors the emotions Rindora feels through their telepathic bond. As dishonest as Rindora is, Cheche is the most sincere little thing one can think of. It often reminds Rindora to be more truthful to both others and himself, but it’s advice often falls on deaf ears.
[OPTIONAL]
Extra: Doctor Hazel is his nickname, after a boy he gave a check up on couldn’t remember Kiel.
Relationships: Eleanor and Demetri Keil- Rindora loves both of them and often visit whenever he has time. He is grateful for their care, but not so much for their constant barrage of questions on his life. They’re still doubtful of his independence, but Rindora is doing his best to convince them.
