Description
Time for a new camera, I think. My Nikon is dying and the work camera is just sad. A true slr, even if it means going back to film. I miss the darkroom, anyway.Related content

It looks emotive. The haunting half-smile, the way the eyes look away from the camera...
Who is it?

Me again. I don't have many willing models around here.

I get the feeling that I'd have the same problem. "Hey you, in the street! Can I take your..

"Maybe not."

It kind of depends. People are often more into than you'd expect. Some of the best pictures I have taken were of complete strangers. Met some interesting people that way, too. Unfortunately, my portfolio (with all my negatives) was stolen, along with my slr film camera, years ago. Since then, I seemed to have lost the knack, and the balls, to approach random people for pictures.
Hmmm, I might have to remedy that, and soon.

I'm sure you still have it in you. Complete strangers have a habit of trying to be polite in front of complete strangers.
Someone actually stole your camera?! What type was it? And had you previously developed the negatives, or were they lost forever?

Yeah, it was in the trunk of my car, with a bag that contained my portfolio, my current notebook of writings and a few of my sketchbooks. This was maybe, oh, 7 or 8 years ago, but I had traveled quite a bit and all my travels were documented there. About 4-5 years worth. I learned a lesson that day- never store your negatives, prints and proofs all in one place. All of it was gone. I have a few color rolls from that time but all my b/w work that I developed and printed myself was there. I'd actually not have been as upset if they'd just taken the camera and left the portfolio.
*Sigh* Still gets me a little verklempt...
It was a Ricoh... I want to say an XR-10, but I'm not sure if that was it. I loved that camera; it went with me everywhere for years.

4-5 years worth? That's a third of my life. A collection of memories on paper and print worth a third of my life got stolen, as well as the butterfly net/camera you caught them in.
Life gets me sometimes.
(what does verklempt mean? i kind of get the idea, but...)
