I never seen ones like it before...I'm going to share them with folks around here in case I ever need one back. The house is old and the area was most active in the steam boat days. I'll have to watch for them in other gardens and maybe I can get the story on these.

Right you are Clive...bearded iris...it's the color that got me...the iris I know from California are dark purple and these are much lighter...after the flowers are spent, we are digging them up to spread around the yard a bit. Thanks for the comment.

Jeff - Wait for the leaves to go as well as leaving the leaves on until they die back naturally will benefit the tubers - my Bearded and other Iris are blooming beautifully this year ...... so pretty flowers !

Thanks Alice. We have been told that the woman that lived here before we took the place was always in the garden. We were a little off guard since we have so many other more important things to do on the place before spending time on the garden. I did take the time to plant several hardwoods on the lot so they will be well rooted went we get back to gardening. We are going to dig up and spread those iris around when I get back from my last trip to California. I'll finally be all moved in and I'm bring my boat home on this trip...that will give me a whole new way to take photo's

Oh Jeff, it sounds wonderful. I'm so looking forward to seeing around the area, and getting to know it like the other places you've shared. Is it a big plot your property is on?

Love the perspective Jeff!

Not too many flowers by us yet in New England. Just a matter of time I guess.

Thank you. It shows the rustic feel to this area...it's a wonderful place to be. Wild flowers are at their peak...I wish I had the time to photograph locally, but I'm making ready for another trip to the southwest. I'll get them next year!
