Description I thought Modelling the speakers on my desktop in Cinema 4D would be a good way to learn more about modelling and would sharpen my skills a bit. I think it came out really well but I can't figure out how to get that mesh material in the front were the speakers are, if anyone has any ideas on how to do that I'm all ears.

and there's not way i'm going to boolean hundreds of holes in there!!!

they look good. I expecially dig the color
for the grill, I would use an alpha map. if you have any questions about how to do that (I seriously doubt it though since your modelling skills exceed mine by far) contact me...

As you may remember, I have these same exact speakers! They sound fantastic too! At one time, I tried to model them in Bryce using the terrain editor, but it just wasn't going to happen. Great job on this deviation! Your model and render is faithful to the original design. To make the speaker grille, maybe you could make an action in photoshop that cuts a circle out of a black foreground and repeat it until the image is pockmarked, then use it as a texture on the grille object.

The model itself is a very nice work, but it should cast some shadows, and the wooden surface doesn't look very good. For a learning experience more than great

if you have a good digicam, you can take a macro photograph of a black, cotton t-shirt, stretched out... magnify the image in a photo editor, and play with brightness and contrast until it looks textured enough... then you can wrap that around your model.
