Description
Francis Bonnefoy looked up from his breakfast as Coal quietly entered the dining room. He smiled warmly and glanced down with his light blue eyes as the demon sat down. He slumped minutely in disappointment when he noticed the lack of the tail."I hope you don't mind me asking, but where is your tail, cher?" He asked as politely as he could, seeing as the tail might bring forth awkward feelings from what happened in the bathroom. Despite the efforts, Coal flushed a light pink from the memories, but nonetheless answered as calmly as he could manage.
"I put it away, just in case it gets in the way." He mumbled, picking up his knife and fork. "…Why?" he added shyly. Francis gave a small sheepish smile and glanced behind him at the counter. Coal let his near black purple eyes to follow to see a camera sitting on the top. It was one of those large bulky yet professional cameras that required film. He turned his gaze back to the Frenchman across from him with question in his eyes.
"I wanted to take a picture." The country answered. "The end on your tail was so beautiful, one of a kind. I wanted to have a picture of it in case…" He trailed off and Coal blinked and ushered him to continue with a hand gesture. France looked down and mumbled almost inaudibly. "In case you suddenly disappear from my life." Coal looked a little taken aback and Francis worried he had come on too strong, but the demon suddenly spoke up.
"I'm not going anywhere, France." He didn't continue talking until Francis looked up and locked his gaze with Coal's. "I told you last night, France, and if you don't remember, I can tell you again. As many times as I have to… Je t'aime, France, et je veux passer ma vie avec vous." He spoke firmly, yet softly, but the impact was large. Coal rarely ever spoke his mind, even with prompting, but when he did his words would knock Francis over the head and render him speechless. A warm fuzzy feeling bloomed in his chest and the Frenchman flushed with happiness and smiled widely.
"Merci, Coal cher." He said lovingly. "Those words mean a lot to me." Coal let out the breath he didn't know he was holding and smiled back in relief. He knew that Francis isn't one to deny kind words, but it didn't stop the anticipation he feels whenever he speaks of his feelings to him. However, like stated, Francis always accepts them and the smile afterwards always brought him relief, happiness, love. Coal just wanted to make Francis happy. Thinking that, he glanced back to the camera.
"Um…France?" Coal piped up.
"Oui?" Francis answered, finishing up his plate.
"We can still… take that picture if you like." Francis blinked in confusion before turning around and seeing his camera. Oh yes, he forgot about that. He was just so happy with Coal's words. But now that Coal was letting him take his picture, he was even happier.
"Really, Coal? Oh, merci! I really appreciate this. I'll take it after we finish eating, oui?" Coal blushed and nodded. Sure enough, straight after breakfast, Francis put the plates away and picked up his camera, taking off the lense cap. Coal brought his tail out from his pants and moved it in front of hịm He then tensed it slightly and the dark leafy parts bunched up and formed the flower that enticed Francis in the first place. Francis took the flower with reverence, a touch so gentle it was like he was worried the flower would fall apart in his hands. He moved the flower around, tilting it at different angles in the soft sunlight that streamed through the lace curtains from the kitchen window.
Coal stared in rapture at the utter look of concentration on the country's face, one that he had only seen in one occasion when he was cooking. This was the look of someone acting on their passion, and Coal was right. Photography was one of Francis's favourite past times, because all his life Francis felt that he always failed to protect what was dear to him. His friends, his land, his people, peace. But with his camera, he could preserve the moment, take a little fragment of what once was beautiful and keep it that way forever compared to his efforts in reality. Photos where never changing, and he really liked that aspect.
Francis finally got the flower into a position that he liked and stepped back and crouched to its level. Then he raised his camera to his face and aimed it at the tail end. Coal tried his best to keep very still and hold the flower's position, his tail starting to ache a bit from staying tense. However, after around 15 seconds with no click from the shutter, Francis lowered the camera and frowned.
"It's not right." He said, standing up. Coal panicked ; did he do something wrong? Did he move? Maybe he didn't want to take the picture anymore. His distress must've shown on his face as Francis smiled reassuringly. "Oh no, Coal cher. It's not you. It's just…it's not enough." He stepped forward and cupped Coal's hands, making the shorter male jump slightly from the sudden warmth. The blue-eyed blond gently guided his hands forward so that they cupped the tail flower gently.
"Can you hold it like this for me?" He asked. Coal merely nodded and carefully held his tail flower, trying not to jar it as to cause any unneeded sensations. "Now," Francis said, stepping back and gazing at him with that same serious stare. "Lean forward towards the flower." Coal obeyed and leaned his face towards it. He stopped when he heard a 'tsk'. "No good. Lean back, then bring the flower up to your face instead." Coal did as he was told, a little confused as to why. Didn't Francis just want to take a picture of the flower? Why was he making him hold it?
He suddenly felt large warm hands wrap around his again and he came out of his daze to see Francis right in front of him. He slowly lowered Coal's hands and tilted his wrists around a bit. Coal felt the soft touch of the tail petals against his lips and the gentle scent of chocolate and lavender as Francis angled the flower as if Coal was giving it a gentle kiss. He stepped back satisfied. "Perfect." Francis breathed in a voice that sent a shiver up Coal's back. "Now can you look down slowly without moving your head. Just your eyes." Coal blinked.
"Um… France? Can I ask you why I have to-"
"Just trust me, Coal, sil vous plait. Now look down." Coal, still a very confused demon, looked down at his tail flower with his eyes. Francis grinned, then his eyes lit up at a sudden idea. He slowly padded behind him, his eyes never leaving his face. He then reached out and gathered Coal's golden blond hair, which was really soft in his hand (the conditioner is working, Francis thought happily), and brought it forward so that it spilled over Coal's shoulders. Said person supressed the shiver though he couldn't stop the goosebumps rising on his neck. If Francis noticed, he was nice enough to ignore it. "Now try not to move." Francis ordered one last time and he took hold of the chair. Coal barely held his composure as he felt Francis push him forward into the light. He turned him left and right, pushed him back and forth in the light until he finally found the perfect position. He stepped back and smiled, satisfied. "Just right." He picked up his camera and gave Coal one last look, a burning look that Coal felt, causing a pretty blush to spread over his cheeks. Francis's smile grew. Now that's perfect. He stood really close and aimed the camera at Coal's face.
It was picture perfect; the sunlight hitting Coal's face just right, making his skin glow as well as his hair, flowing over his shoulder like liquid gold, a warm blush over his face, his eyes half-lidded serenely as he gazed down at the flower. He was an image of beauty and peace, and Francis caught it all with a click of the shutter.
"Just perfect…" Francis breathed softly, his voice full of love. Coal lowered his hands and gazed at Francis confused.
"T-Thank you." He said. "But...why did you add me to the photo as well? You said you wanted to take a photo of the flower." Francis smirked knowingly.
"Oui, I did. You remember why?" Coal struggled to remember. Francis chuckled. "Beautiful, one-of-a-kind." He whispered into his ear as he cupped Coal's face with both hands. "And I caught them both on camera."
