Description
Another image for the Kaimanawa-Challenge ! I've pulled back a little on how fancy I'm getting with the shading and things, but I like how the background turned out. As usual, the jump and basic pose are referenced from several different LuDa-Stock photos, but I didn't use a ref for Robin (I'm so proud lol). This is the upper end of the pasture from the previous picture.Story
As the days went by, Robin found himself spending more and more time in the upper pasture, working with Radar. The horse seemed desperate to learn, and drank in everything. His willingness to try new things amazed both Robin and his parents, and it wasn’t long before the stallion had picked up a lot of verbal commands. They’d been going through the Parelli games using some variations that his dad recommended, and Radar loved them. He’d even been willing to help haul their tiny cart up the trail to the upper pasture, carrying cones and a jump. His inquisitiveness kept him from being too afraid, and now that he was comfortable with his new home, he seemed to want to learn as much as he could.
His curious nature could be a problem, though. He’d figured out how to open latches and untie ropes, and he’d escaped several times. He’d been caught quickly and hadn’t wandered far, but it still scared Robin, who drove to the hardware store and picked up some “horse-proof” latches for the gates and doors. They had worked, so far.
School was beginning in a few weeks, and Robin wanted to have Radar as prepared as he could be, so that he wouldn’t loose too much when Robin didn’t have as much time to spend with him. The upper end of the pasture had beautiful views, and they would often stay there till after sunset, playing and working.
A few worries tinged his otherwise happy thoughts. His parents had been staying up far into the night, talking in hushed voices at the kitchen table, and the little he’d caught of what they were saying worried him greatly. It sounded as if they were struggling to meet payments, and weren’t sure whether they would be able to keep the farm or not. The idea of loosing this new place, so soon after they’d bought it, terrified him. The move had been hard, and he didn’t want to leave this place, even if they were able to more to a property with a barn.
