Daniel was born to a servile slave mother and her owner, a commoner. His early life was far from pleasant, though his mother tried her best to shield him from the harshest parts of his life. At age 8 his mother died, a victim of her owner, and he was quickly sold for a cheap price. He bounced around for a few years, rising in price due to his looks and quick tongue, both inherited from his mother. At age 12 he was sold to the Creeds, who educated and trained him to be an assistant to their young daughter, Diana. He was to help her manage the family business, and he showed a great talent for it from the start. He was given to her on her 18th birthday, which only a few days after his.

At first he was rejected and largely ignored, which was better than what he'd received from previous masters and mistresses, and he was content in the Creed household. However, Diana slowly warmed to him, and he found himself growing fond of her in turn. As they worked together and took on more responsibility together they became inseparable, and many of the usual barriers between master and slave fell away, ignored.

When he and Diana were 24 they officially began to work together, Diana as a smuggler and Daniel as her close assistant. This had been a subject of discussion between them for some time, and Daniel was overjoyed that his friend had taken up a cause so close to his heart.

He now works as her assistant manager and right hand man, the one person she truly trusts. They treat each other as equals, but are careful to appear only as master and servant in public.
