Description
This is the 60th theme of the 100 themes challenge: Rejection and it fits so well to the topic on the picture.
Work title for this was "Blauer Engel" - in English "Blue Angel" and it is inspired by one of the most interesting songs from the amazing band "Alphaville". I always wanted to illustrate something referring to this song and a few weeks ago I talked about the meaning of this special lyrics with Natalie-Priscila . After I went for a jog, under the shower, I had the idea of this pic with Rej Lio'Ta, my main OC from my Novel "REJ - The especial Prisoner" (you can find on my homepage: sorianumera.de ).

It shows on the right side the strong and healthy but cold resistance fighter - he does not allow himself any weaknesses. And on the left side behind the mirror the prisoner - with his injuries (I left out the wheelchair for compositoring reasons) and full of emotions, unheared.

The pic only shows the first strophe and the first chorus but this is the interpretation of the whole lyrics by myself: Some parts of us are very strong and are fighting to keep afloat, but to be able to do this, they block up lots of emotions and needs and ignore them so hard till they think they are no part of them at all. And this block up parts cry and scream and throw stones against the walls, unheared by the "functional" part. But in complete we become "disfunctional" because we work against ourselves. And we start to hate the part of ourselves which are screaming and crying and throwing stones against the walls 'cause some of the stones come through and hit our path and then we struggle not to fall.
Only way to become one whole functional AND happy being is to embrace your personal "Blue Angel". Listen to the emotions, the screams, the cries, but don't let them lead your thoughts and actions. Take them serious. Talk to them, comfort them and show them their places. Not behind a wall! In a warm and safe hug!

One side information about "Blauer Engel" and this picture is:
The most beloved and best and superoverhypergreatest sistermonster Lonstermonster made a journey with me to Hamburg to visit Alphaville on stage at the "Forever Young Tour" in the "Gruenspan"! And bought Alphaville-Fan-Shirts for us!!! And it was such an wonderfull weekend! It was the BEST and MOST AWESOME present that was ever made for me! Lonstermonster , this was so BREATHTAKING (blue... )! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Marian Gold, Alphaville, your music and lyrics are pure beautiness! You played this special pearl "Blauer Engel" in Hamburg! I freaked out! And the lightshow on "Elevator" - I've never seen such a stunning lightshow on stage!!!

I made a Work-In-Progress-gif to follow how I painted this work. It was a nice experience. And I didn't gave up on this special piece because it means a lot to me. I started with sketches without references (and I really not often work without stock refs). Then I decided to make a painting instead of a lineart - much more work and much more chaos at my layers While drawing I've read some interesting tutorials on how to work with Photoshop. And I stumbled over a really helpful tutorial at instagram about using gradient maps. In the WIP.gif you can see, when the colors change from ordinary orange to lively orange-red-yellow-limegreen - this was the point where I've read the tutorial So much fun to work with gradient maps! Later I did a picture of a nebula with the help of another tutorial. And it brought up the idea to use some steps of this tutorial to make the picture more interesting. It is one of the last steps in the WIP.gif. I used color dodge layers in black with white highlights to achieve the effects. So, thank you for this great tutorial (Here you can find the tutorial about how to nebulae: danich01 ).
