Notes on MagicMagic
Magic is composed of 4 main components. Quantity, Battery, Gate, and Form. No matter what universe you look at, these 4 components come into play. For example, Harry Potter series, quantity would be the spells (never defined), the battery would their bodies, the gate would be their wands, and the form would be the spells. In the inheritance Cycle (where I came up with the theory) The Quantity would be life force, or energy required to perform a task (defined), Battery would again be their bodies, the gate would be the words that they say to activate the spell, and the form would be the spell. In the popular manga Naruto, the Quantity would be Chakra, the Battery would be their bodies, the gate would be the hand signs, and the form again would be the spell.
Basic Magic
In the world we are discussing now, The quantity will be based on some sort of soul, battery will be a soul gem, and the gate will be the body. These soul gems are in every body of a human, but if powerful enough, they can exist outside of a living vessel.
Quantity – The quantity of the magic would be the strength of the soul in question. Each soul has a predetermined strength at the time of its creation. The power of the soul is immovable, but if the strength is used, it can be replenished. The rate of replenishment is variable. Souls constantly generate power, but when it reaches its max, the power dissipates rapidly. The amount of soul power is a range due to this property. The Quantity of power may be subject to change due to high amounts of stress, relating to adrenaline, blood pressure, heart rate, and the soul sensing its destruction.
Battery – The battery will be the human body that the soul inhabits. Power will be evenly distributed to each cell, but will have higher concentrations in the bones, and vital organs. Cells detached from the soul will slowly lose power. Powerful souls can survive stably outside of a living host. External sources are known as soul gems.
Gate – The gate is the surface of the body, every part of the body is capable of expelling energy, though some places of the body, such as the hands, and feet use energy more efficiently and faster. Various elasticities tend to have different high flow areas, and individual flow areas are also variable.
Form – The form is divided into 2 major areas, Life and Death. Each of these types further divides into 3 energetic states, Forming, reforming, and deconstructive. These separate further into 5 elemental categories consisting of fire, water, earth, lightning and wind. Forming tends to lean towards life states, and deconstructing tends to lead to death. Reforming is neutral.
This is all subject to change, I just wanted to get this all down for reference later ^u^.
