Description
havnt done any artwork in over a year now. this is the first thing ive done.its still in the testrender stages.
being a testrender i know there are some big issues with it.
-grass on left hand side is not very detailed
-main mountian top has a very ugly sharp point on the top of it (near the sun)
-snow isnt great (yet)

oh in that case. HDR effects are built into terragen by default. although not mentioned.

just Terragen. im not exactly sure if HDR is more of a game term or what. i know it stands for high dynamic range. its such a big deal with games because the lighting engine has to be very quick. although render programs usually take into account these effects already because they dont have the need to display 60 frames per second. this render actually took about 10-15 min IIRC.
i guess the answer to your question is HDR 'effects' are built into terragen. although im not completely sure if were talking about the same thing.

HDR was actually used long time before then it cam into games. It was used by Mental ray and still is infact, it's a very interessting principal. The whole environnement is lite by a HDR picture. That means you don't need to put lights every where. And the way the materials react to the HDR picture are more realistic. You can simply change the lighting by changing the exposure of the HDR picture. But if you want to know more about this you should ask Devinerror. I used HDR pics while using 3Ds Max.
