Whew. This took a long time. Originally I was just going to test out color schemes and such digitally, then color it in real media. Then I realized I'd be insane to do that. ^^* Some 12 hours of digital color later, it's done. Whew. I didn't mind the detail; it was refreshing to do a nice complex piece like this, although I did have to leave it alone for two weeks before I could finish the last of it.I think the guy (girl?) with the hourglass and the mysterious smile is called the Time Watcher. What the significance of the window is, I really don't know. Maybe we'll find out in another painting.
Edit: Chiaroscuro was also chosen as 'Best of Art' for the Fall 2005 issue of IUPUI's genesis magazine!

I don't think I've ever seen such a lovely stained glass window anywhere on deviantArt. I'm really diggin' the warm feeling this picture gives off. If I'd have to choose, I'd say the sun is my favorite part of the whole picture, though I don't dislike anything else, either. Gorgeous work.

I really love how this piece is so colorful, yet still retains an air of seriousness and mystery to it. It's so easy to get lost in the colors. They're very well blended making it a nice relaxing picture. I think "enchanting" would be a good word to describe this piece. ^_^
