Description
This is a custom commode I designed and build. To keep it affordable it's made from pine that I stained to obtain a dark oak and ebony look. As oak would have made it to expensive for me. The top has been veneered with a sheet of birch. The design was inspired by more traditional 19th century furniture.

What sets it apart is that, like all my woodwork, I didn't use any nails or screws. It's all joined by dovetails, dado rabbets, dowels and miter joints. The only screws you'll find are in the hinges and locks.

The whole piece has been french polished in 20 consecutive layers to a mirror finish. Unexpectedly the stained pine took on a warm gold shine in the right light.
