A trembling and sobbing Mr. Mackey, cowering behind the legs of a now enormous desk, desperately tried to think of a way out this predicament. He again flinched as a falling pencil (nearly as tall as him) clinked and bounced off the tiled floor, narrowly missing the top of his head. This wasn't the first parent at Dearden Middle School who tried to convince a teacher to change their child's grades. Mr. Mackey had years of experience dealing with irate parents without ever giving into their demands; always concluding with "the grade earned is the grade given". However, when Mr. Mackey scheduled this particular parent/teacher conference last week, he was only aware that Brayden's mother was the president of the PTA. What he didn't know was that Brayden's mother was also a powerful witch who was used to getting her way. Five minutes of arguing and a shrinking spell later, Mr. Mackey was begging for his life as Brayden's gigantic mother bellowed threats at him. "Pick up that pencil NOW, you little runt!" she spat.

What choice did he have? If she said Brayden earned a "B", then Brayden earned a "B".
