Lara had a tough life. Paradoxically, her social troubles arose directly from her wealthy parents' attempt to give her every possible advantage in life. You see, Lara was one of the early recipients of Magnavita. . . a first of its kind series of prenatal gene therapies pioneered by Salutem Pharmaceuticals. The goal of the treatment was to create genetically advantaged babies for anyone who could afford the exorbitant costs. As the price would come down over the years, more and more children would be born with superior genes and shift society towards a utopian vision of the future. Unfortunately, in the meantime, it would also exacerbate the wealth gap and result in a period of time in which two distinct social classes formed; the natural born and the genetically superior. Lara wished she had been born during this time period.

Instead, Lara grew up during the era in which only the children of ultra rich families received the treatment. As such, she was a pariah even among her wealthy peers. By the time she was sixteen and away at a prestigious English boarding school, she had reached her full height of 8'3" (251 cm). She also had an IQ of 135, the physique of a cross-fit competitor (though she barely exercised), and she was stunningly beautiful. Had she been born twenty years into the future she would have been perfectly normal among her classmates, but at sixteen she was considered an oddity. The boys were too intimidated to talk to her and the girls resented her from afar. She felt isolated and alone, and eventually turned to anti-social behavior to attract friends. She started taking drugs, partying past curfew, and even bullying smaller people to get what she wanted. On nights that she ran out of beer money, she would engage in "strong-arm robberies"; using her physical strength and size advantage to force others to give up their money and valuables. This landed Lara in jail on several occasions. She was kicked out of school, her parents cut her off, and she was an indigent career criminal by her twenty-third birthday. And all because of Magnavita.

This was not an uncommon story during the early days, and Lara knew of others in her shoes. That's when she came up with an idea to turn things around. Why should others enjoy life while she, a superior human, lived on the margins of society?

Lara developed her plan and enlisted help. . . from some old friends.

Lara, Sara, Melba, and Carina formed a team of genetically superior women for the purpose of committing heists around the city. They had the brains and the brawn to take whatever they wanted. And by keeping to the poorer and high crime sections of town, they were able to ensure they wouldn't get caught. That is until one day when they robbed a jewelry store in a fancy part of town in broad daylight. The team had become overly arrogant and sloppy. While Melba forced the manager to give them the security tape, she didn't ask about the backup tape. That evening, they watched part of the footage from their robbery on the six o'clock news.
