Finally a new piece of jewelry! Actually this piece has been completed for a while, I've just been having extreme difficulties in the photography department. My boyfriend, who has taken the majority of my other jewelry photos, has been having some serious issues with his digital camera, so I had to resort to other methods of capturing this piece. I used up almost two rolls of film trying to photograph it with a traditional SLR, but none of the images really represented this piece well. I was eventually able to get some half-way decent pictures from my mom's digital camera, which are the ones I'm presenting here. Even these photos truly don't do the piece justice.

I decided to entitle this piece "Dark Features" for fairly obvious reasons. It is my most recently completed Faery Mask pendant, and in this case it is based on a bird in the Corvid family which encompasses Ravens, Crows, Magpies, etc. Mythologically speaking, corvids have been creators, tricksters, messengers, and harbringers of death, among other things. They are featured in traditional tales from Europe to North America and beyond.

The scupture itself has a gunmetal sheen to highlight the fine pattern of feathers on its face. Many of the beads themselves are iridescent and the shifting light catches multiple shades of midnight blue, violet, cobalt, and purple. Black and grey swarovski crystals dangle from the lower portion of the mask.

measurements • adjustable necklace is approximately 13.5" - 18" in length with lobster clasp • the Faery Mask is approximately 1" at its widest point and it protrudes about 1" as well • the central decorative elements (including the Faery Mask itself) drape approximately 3.75" down from the necklace base

materials • one-of-a-kind, hand-sculpted, and hand-painted Faery Mask pendant; hematite beads; swarovski crystal beads; glass beads; silver-toned wire; silver-toned chain

I will be placing this piece up for sale at Phée Adornments very shortly! More photos of this piece can be seen here .

Photographing dark objects, always tricky.. It's so nice to see new jewellery by your hand, especially when it's so expressive. The shape of the necklace is lovely, and I like how the beads complement the mass of the head. Can imagine the gunmetal sheen looks lovely.
