Description “Open at your own risk” was written on the label.
Marissa laughed, “What kind of joke is this?” she lifted the box off her front porch, and brought it inside. She set it on the kitchen table and turned it around, looking for any indication as to who it was from, or where it was supposed to be sent.
“Maybe it wasn’t meant for me,” she said to herself as she looked over the heavy-duty tape job that closed up the box. Try as she might there was no return address on the box. “I probably shouldn’t open this. It wouldn’t say “open at your own risk” if it weren’t important. It’s probably just one of those marketing ploys.”
She shrugged as she started to walk away, when suddenly she heard a thump. She twisted around to see that the box had fallen on the floor.
“I could’ve sworn that I put that farther from the edge of the table.” Marissa picked the box back up and put it closer to the center of the table, but as she let go she felt something strange on her hand. She looked at it to see sticky white fibers covering it. She groaned as she tried to shake the stuff off, but it wouldn’t unglue itself from her hand.
Marissa looked at the side of the box, where a small hole had ripped in the tape. The substance came from there. “Oh great… Whatever’s in there is leaking.”
Marissa went to the sink and rinsed her hand. The fibers fell off, and stuck to the drain. It almost seemed like cotton, but it was far stronger, and it felt like it was covered in glue. Now Marissa was curious. What was in the box?
She grabbed the scissors from the kitchen drawer, and approached the box. She slipped the scissors under the tape and cut open the box. “Now to see what’s in here…”
She carefully lifted the flaps up and found that they too were covered in the mysterious substance. The box seemed to be overflowing with the stuff.
“Ewwwww…” Marissa groaned as she looked inside. Down near the bottom was a strange white orb. It was encased in the white stuff, and it seemed to pulse every couple seconds.
Marissa had enough of the nasty thing and took it outside. She tossed it in the garbage, and put the lid on tight. She didn’t know what that thing was, and she didn’t feel like finding out.
She went back inside the house, wanting to forget about the disgusting package.
“Who would be gross enough to pull a prank like that?” she asked herself. She didn’t put much thought to it as she closed the door behind her; it was time for one of her favorite shows to start.
***********************************************
Marissa laughed as she watched “Big Bang Theory”. She hadn’t missed an episode yet, but little did she know that just outside not all was well.
The trashcan tipped over, and the lid was pushed off by long spindly legs. The creature crawled out of its egg, ready to find its first prey. It scuttled around the house to the back door, where its light sensitive eyes picked up the movement from inside the house. It climbed to the roof, and squeezed in through the ventilation shaft, unnoticed.
Marissa yawned as the TV show ended. It had been a long day, and she was ready for a nice sleep. As she went to her room she felt her foot land into a sticky mass with a resounding squish. She looked down at her feet to see that they were covered in the same material that had been on her hand before. She cried out in disgust as she pulled her feet from the mess, but it wasn’t easy. This material was far stickier. It stretched from her foot back to the floor, and would not let go.
“What the hell is this stuff?” Marissa whined as she finally managed to pull free. She hobbled back into the kitchen on one foot. She didn’t want to mess up any more of the carpet with the fibers.
Suddenly as she stuck her foot into the sink she heard a hissing noise. Marissa looked up and screamed at what she saw.
Crawling along the ceiling was a large dog-sized spider.
Marissa pulled her foot out of the sink as fast as she could, and ran for the door. “That thing that I threw away was an egg! A mutant spider egg!”
She bolted for the front door, but suddenly her run was cut short as she ran headlong into an invisible net. She thrashed about against the taught stings of spider silk, but only to further entangle herself.
She felt a vibration on the web, and looked up to see the spider crawling toward her. She kicked and punched at the spider, but the web held her back.
The spider crept closer as it watched the girl fight against its trap. Marissa could only watch as it loomed over top her, moving her arms to her sides. It plucked a few of the strands free, making it seem like easy work, as it held her in four of its arms.
Marissa screamed at the beast, and beat at its underbelly with her open fists, but it did not register in the spider’s mind.
With a swift motion the spider pressed the girl’s arms to her side, and pulled a sheet of wet silk from its abdomen, and sun the girl around, layering the silk, and keeping her arms bound. It continued to turn the girl round and round as it cocooned her in its grasp.
Marissa began to become dizzy as the room and the ceiling came in and out of view. She could barely squirm as her legs were wrapped tightly. She had enough movement left to look down at her body to see that she had become a vaguely female shaped cocoon, covered from her head to toe in the silk. She gave one final plea before her head disappeared beneath a shroud of white.
She squirmed about as her gagged cries mumbled out through her silken gag.
The spider plucked the girl from its web, and fastened her to the floor of its new lair; Marissa’s house. Once sure of the security of its victim the spider crawled off into Marissa’s Bedroom to rest.
Marissa whimpered as she lay there on the floor, unable to move, when a knock came at the door. Marissa yelled out for help, but her gag prevented the person from hearing.
“Excuse me miss?” The man asked from the other side of the door, “This is the mailman. I seem to have gotten your package mixed up. I have yours right here, that other one was for a laboratory in DC. Hello? I guess she’s not home. I’ll just leave this here with a note.”
The man walked off, and Marissa’s spirits sank. She could only hope that someone with a key would come by soon. Very soon.
So a warning to all of you out there… if a package says “Open at your own risk” stay away from it, lest you fall victim to a shipping error.

I wrote this story just this past week, and decided to draw up a drawing to go with it. I've been busy with school, and haven't been able to get much done, but I hope this drawing will satisfy you all for a little longer. more to come soon. I still love the long black hair.

Actually, I was talking about the spider in the picture, but here goes...

Ilpalazzo: "I have a new mission for you, Excel. I want you to kidnap one or all of the female members of a group known as the SOS Brigade. Here's some rope, some duct tape, assorted gags, and anything else you may need. Oh, and just for good measure..."
*(drops her in the pit)*
So, she goes to kidnap one or more of the girls, and manages to bind her quarry. But little does she know, a certain type of arachnid is sneaking up on her...
