Description My foundations students are making pencil creatures again and why should they have all the fun...
(graphite)
Now that I look at it, this image of the drawing is a bit washed out. ( I just got a new scanner and I'm not used to it yet). The original has better values.

this is an interesting concept! In the thumb it looked like the ferrules were Indian-like decorations... I was pleased and amused when I realized what they actually were!

The values are fine, even if a bit washed out, you can still see a good range. The hatching is also excellent.

I don't really have a critique other than it looks like ol' BarBar there is standing in space, rather than on any solid surface (this is a problem I have with my sketches, as well.), but for all I know you have since worked more on it.

Great drawing!

Yeah, I was going to add some ground of some kind, but nothing looked right...

Hey, I thought about what you said and I added some simple shadows stretching across the ground from the elephant's feet. It looks better.
Thanks again!

whoa.... this turned out wonderfully. I'm really drawn to the tusks for some reason.... and I like the scale shift of the pencil used for the trunk.
