This is really good! I love the way water color looks but I can't for the life of me make it work for me... all I remember is my teacher telling me to give the picture what it wants, and that really didn't help the situation O.o

Wow. Give the picture what it wants?... No wonder you find it difficult, if that is all the instruction you've been given... I'd be confused.
What I was taught, (and teach), is: draw the general shapes lightly with pencil, start painting with the lightest color, (paint it wherever you can see it), then paint in the next lightest and so on until you get to the darkest... which is when you're done. Does that help?

It is rich... and addictive. Once you try it, you will probably never go back to acrylic, (unless you have an illustration job which has to be fed-xed quickly).
