Description
Pt 2 of my JL heromatic redesign mini-side project. (My Splendorized version of JL... again)Costume is an amalgamation of the traditional Hal Jordan suit as well as John Stewart and, my personal favorite, Kyle Rayner. I don't really buy the whole idea of the Ring adapting to wearer... not completely. I mean, really, the Ring not only adapts to the correct species (compared to all of the other different Lanterns out and about) but to his individual measurements. If that's not considered customization, then I don't know what is.
Also, in terms of the Ring being a cosmic-organic force I took that idea a step further. The Ring has a will of it's own and it chooses it's bearer based on his/her ability to carry out the Ring's desire (not necessarily who would make the best Lantern). All Rings operate like this and feed off of the energy/life force of the user. In the right hands (in this case, a person with strong will power) this relationship can be symbiotic (if not tolerably parasitic), but it usually isn't ("Especially those puny human things on the planet Earth." Humans are viewed as being weak because of young of a species we are compared to others in the Galaxy, specifically the Corps). I always felt that Hal was a tool anyway, so it just makes sense to me that the Ring would be more important than him anyway.
All that being said, there are a few elements of GL's costume that can be fixed/that I wanted to play with. I wanted the white gloves to look like they actually belong (even though I don't really care for them, personally). Speaking of colors, I wanted the costume to be shades of green... it makes sense (so does the black/white single color combo too, but I prefer this one).
Also, I forgot to add that the "battery charger" for the Ring gives the Ring enough energy to perform... otherwise it'll just suck the life out the Vessel (Lantern).

Nice design, and I like the idea of the ring being essentially a symbiotic being in its own.
I'll agree about Hal being a tool; I honestly find him rather boring and annoying since he either lacks a personality, or he has one that's unlikable. But, I admit I'm not a huge fan of the Lanterns anyhow.

Thanks. I forgot to add that the "battery charger" for the Ring gives the Ring enough energy to perform... otherwise it'll just suck the life out the Vessel (Lantern).
Hal's a tool at best, I was being nice, he's a prick. I actually find Guy more likable because he's at least (semi)human.
I like the idea of the Green Lantern... not the execution. Kyle is the one that I feel has the most depth and diversity to the team. Personally I think Billy Batson would've been the best Green Lantern DC ever produced.

That's a cool idea. So when he runs out, he can keep going, he just runs to risk of killing himself when doing so.
Hal's one of those characters who never had a defined personality, from what I can see. So when people do define it, they make him an ass. Which is weird, becuase its not like its impossible to write a guy like that in a likable fashion; after all one could argue Cyclops of the X-Men is a lot like that, but I still find Cyke likeable because there's more to his character, and he actually has charisma. Its sad that Hal is only remotely likable when he's boring.
I'll agree there; I admit thanks to the Justice League cartoon, I have a fondness for John Stewart due to his military background and persona (of course, that was original to the DCU), but I do think better things could have came out of the characters.

Exactly the plan.
True, I guess Cyclops is more likable because his blandness is justified; he has to be in complete control or else he may accidentally kill somebody with his eyes (talk about being uptight). He's a more tragic character, than Scott.
I didn't watch a whole lot of the show as a kid, but John was not just the first Green Lantern I knew, he was the only Green Lantern. After learning about the others, Kyle is my favorite GL, and John is a respectable second.

Yeah, plus Cyclops seems to be a bit warmer at times. While he can be a dick (Especially when written by certain writers or involved in an editorially mandated story; for some reason, those always result in him being a colossal dick; not as bad as Wolverine is in them though), he's usually more like a supporting brother or fatherly figure (especially when written by Mike Carey, his take is probably my favourite version of Cyclops, either his or Victor Gischler's) or at least the kind of person you'd want to be in charge of your team. While him and Hal have many similarities, I honestly see Cyclops as being like the lovechild of Superman and Batman; he's got the former's leadership and Boyscout-like manner, but the latter's ruthlessness and skill set.
I was sort of aware of there being at least two after I got into the show, since the first comic I ever owned (JLA Year One) featured Hal; but for a while I was just confused by the names being different, I didn't even notice the other differences. I had the same thing with Flash and Robin as well at first, especially since Cartoon!Flash was a comedic fool while Comic!Flash was a police forensic smart guy.

'Tis cool! Though I would have picked... well, any other Lantern. Hal's just kinda dull.

Thanks. Hal's my least favorite, that's why I focused more on the Ring rather than the tool. (also, because I rather make a bad design on character I don't like, and in terms Justice League he's important, if only because he was the unofficial "first" Lantern).

Well, if you want to go "first", you could always do worse than Alan Scott. Technically the first Green Lantern, though he's not a member of the Corps. Has an enormous cape on his regular outfit, though the DCNU version is basically GL with neck-armor (and no black).

I try my best to pretend he never existed for no other reason his costume. It seems like adding green was an after thought (most likely because color was novelty around the time he was created).

True. But his costumes in Kingdom Come and the DCNU are pretty awesome.

*googles* Yes! Those are probably the coolest Green Lantern comics ever.

I really like this one! It's hard to find a design that works for Green Lantern on FDH
