A thing that has no memory.
My shadow's name was It
A name I heard so often before
It was all there was.
I told my mom, I told my dad
It existed just as they did
My brother called me morbid.
But I said they lied
That they were jealous
It was my only friend.
But I began thinking about It
If It really existed
If I was really morbid.
They suddenly It disappeared
My shadow was there, but not It
My only friend; gone.
