An old legend has it that a weak child named Talis was born. Where most natives lived off of magic based on the feared elements; light, shadow, earth, water, fire, and wind, Talis' magic was the sun's warmth, a power not enough to keep her alive.
It was soon spread that Talis' destiny was to die. Her older brother refused to accept it and gave half of his magic to her before she died, only enough to put her into an eternal sleep.
The elders agreed to put her soul into a gift from the stars; a blue stone of terrible power. The stone was placed in the heart of the Great Lake and there she slept for 300 years.
On an unnaturally stormy night, the gods became angry. They stole her magic to kill her brother and exile his lover.
But when they released the magic that was given to Talis in love, her destiny broke and her power was fed by her brother's selfless sacrifices. Reborn as a goddess, her power was released as an imortal fire. With her magic, Talis scorched the Earth and it became the new sun and the gods perished just as her brother did.
