ok, i live near Cahokia Mounds in Illinois. it is the site of a once huge Native American city. at it's largest, it was estimated to be over 20,000 people strong, just in the main city itself, not counting all of the surrounding villages. the chief or leader of it all lived on top of what is now called "Monk's Mound". it is just over 100 feet high, but covers 15 acres of land at its base, that is more than the Great Pyramid in Egypt, although the pyramid is taller. so anyway, i took the kids there for a day of learning, and took this shot. the lil' guy is my son Gavin and the girl is my daughter Samantha. i was thinking when we walked up the steps, which are in the exact place of the origional ones, that way back when we would be going to see the leader who was considered Godlike. his home was way up there to place him closer to the gods. amazing really. all of this was built by hand. i am damn proud to say that the lil' guy made it all the way to the top WITHOUT STOPPING. fuck yeah-proud daddy!for some reason, the main site page is dead, but i did find these.....

and way to go for the little guy! that's a lot of steps for short legs...lol trust me, i'd have problems with it cuz i'm so short!
