Description
This is a view across the top of Longspruce Generating Station, where I work. The figure on the right in the distance is the spillway, where they raise and lower the gates, to allow surplus water to flow past.

I'm glad you like it. I was going to try this picture in b&w, but I like the colours too much.

I was playing with the idea of screwing with the colours, but it was the colours that made me want to shoot this in the first place. Maybe I'll have to give it another shot and see what I can come up with.

Thanks! Yeah the clouds were really low. They really make this picture, in my opinion.
Thanks a lot for the comment.

I played with the levels, adjusted the contrast, and a changed the saturation a bit. Just tweaked everything.

I remember the day when I was exploring Limestone (very similar to Longspruce) and I was really deep down in the dam. It was all dark and the walls were leaking and there was HUGE calcium deposits. So then I started climbing stairs and ladders upwards and eventually I end up in that house above the spill gates. It was very impressive. The huge winches wound with cables were very cool. Good times...

That's what I liked the best about being a summer student with Hydro. You could just waste part of the day exploring the plant.
Kudos for climbing all the way to the top of the dam, from all the way at the bottom. Breathlessness for the win.

I really like this. For a moment I thought the clouds were moving. It also reminds me of a place near my house. You may have inspired some new photo ops for me.

I like the sense of prespective this brings. The rather small but bright patch of light sandwiched between the ominous looking clouds and asphalt road seems to suggest the phrase 'Theres always light at the end of the tunnel'. An overall well captured photo.

Dams are amazing pieces of construction on their own, without awesome clouds and lighting. This is a great capture.

Yeah, I think that dams are pretty impressive pieces of work. There are 3 of them in the area surrounding this town, and I want to get some good pictures at all of them.
Thanks for the comment.

We have 5 of them in my county, I think. They're all pretty cool, but Grand Coulee Dam is by far the most impressive. I like going inside them, taking the little tours. But I suppose that working at one would be even cooler than that

I've been to Grand Coulee Dam. It definitely is an impressive one.
I definitely enjoy working in a dam, you get to go all over, into the places that people rarely get to see.
