Description
I wanted to make a figure drawing into a landscape of plentiful curves. I might explore other ways to achieve this in other pieces in the future.And the paper sucks. It's not actually gray, but the paper's texture is very antagonistic to the scanning process, so it took a surprising amount of work to digitize. Oh well. I know for next time.

Dude, I have to know, are U familiar with Serpieri's work? I mean, Druuna is far from a small woman, but this is like an expansion on Serpieri's style. And the technique is killer. Shaded fantastically and the curves are murderous. U need to make this into a print, man.

That's actually due to the paper choice. It scans terribly, unless one is going for this look. It helps highlights stand out more. Thanks for the compliments!

I know nothing of shading, either, but you really accomplished a smooth look. I feel it manages a landscape-y feel.

This is an awe-inspiring piece of magnificent artistic prowess. The details are amazing, especially on her hands (fingers especially) and hair. I'm sure you've heard this many times over, but your ability to draw realistic hands is to be admired. You captured this most gorgeous of feminine forms with more attention to detail using the power of imagination more so than a photographer could do with the power of his or her eye.

Well, I thought a LOT about how to best shade her. Here's why I shaded her crotch area like that: 1. as the depth in the piece increases, i.e. when parts of her get farther away, the contrast generally decreases, and vice versa. So her crotch being farther than her face/hands, should be less shaded. 2. her body is supposed to be full and fat and her thighs aren't supposed to have room between them. To convey that fullness I tried to make them look lose together and have a lot of reflected light.
But I really think you have a good point and there's a middle ground somewhere in all this...

i think darker shading in the crotch would make the eye stick there. the way you have it now your eye travels the whole picture and ends up in the front and then gets drawn back to the hills. i think you did the right choice.

Shouldn't the shading in the crotch area be heavier?
