The fall of Númenor:
Sauron was laughing in his church when ships sailed to Aman. He laughed when the storm hit and wiped out the fleet. And he cried when the temple, he and the whole island collapsed into the depths. And the Maelström cradled him in a hug. Thus he lost the ability to take a nice appearance. (And it was a big blow to his vanity.)
Second humiliation came when Isildur (man !!) cut off his Ring of Power as well as the finger.
And finally the third fall - the sort of pathetic Hobbit (!!!) destroy the Ring in Mount Doom. Sauron could not sink deeper already. His eye went out, and he disappeared into the shadows.
He waited for the end of time, until he meets his master in the Void.
