--things are getting a bit slushy right now - it's recommended that you stay off of the ice on the ponds and rivers.
For conservation efforts, we have to limit the amount of people that are in the Springs area at any one given time. If there is a slot below that is empty, you are welcome to begin an exploration. If there is not, you must wait until someone else is finished. There is no waitlist; forms posted when slots are full will be disregarded and hidden.
You may not hold more than one slot at the same time.
You must wait 24 hours after the completion of your previous exploration before starting another one.

Area Information
--------------------Easy Difficulty--------------------
- Wetlands: An area right outside the Shelter's doors, the Wetlands are easily traversed. We recommend that you bring bug spray.
Areas of Interest: Twisted Tree, Dry Island, Sinking Sand
- The Glade: The Glade is a bright copse of aspen and poplar trees only minutes from the shelter. A great place for a picnic.
Areas of Interest: Three Aspens, Meadow, Wildflower Patch
- Deep Pond: The Deep Pond has two small islands. It is quite deep.
Areas of Interest: South Island, North Island, Peninsula
- Near Pond: The Near Pond is the closest of the four to the Shelter. It also has one island that is a bit bigger than Deep's.
Areas of Interest: Island, Shoreline Grasses, Shallows
--------------------Medium Difficulty--------------------
- Cold Pond: The first pond on the stream is the coldest of the four ponds. There is a small raft available should you wish to cross to one of the Cold Pond's island.
Areas of Interest: East Island, West Island, Inlet
- Muddy Pond: The last pond on the stream before it heads out of the Springs is deep, but it does not appear so because of the amount of silt and mud within it. We must ask that you do not try to cross the pond.
Areas of Interest: Mud Flats, Shoreline, Underbridge
- Hot Pool: A warm hot spring rises out of the ground here. If you do not mind sharing the water with a few creatures, it is the perfect place to relax.
Areas of Interest: Spring Source, Scented Grasses, Circling Rocks
- Grasslands: To the east of the Springs, the rolling plains take over. Part of these plains, called the Grasslands, are included within the Spring's jurisdiction.
Areas of Interest: Rock Formations, Hilltop, Burying Grasses
--------------------Hard Difficulty--------------------
- Far Forest: On the northern side of the Springs a dense, jungle-like forest begins. The Far Forest is dark and humid.
Areas of Interest: Mother Tree, Root Cavern, Canopy
- Northern Plains: To the side of the Far Forest is the North Plain. This plain is similar to the Grasslands, but the trek out there is much more tedious and because of its proximity to the mountains, the creatures found there are typically harder to find.
Areas of Interest: Rock Clumps, Streamshore, Blue Grasses
- Forest of Voices: This mainly coniferous forest is a prickly journey and not for the faint of heart.
Areas of Interest: Pillar of Wood, Life Flowers, Old Temple
- The Falls: These waterfalls signify the end of the Springs jurisdiction along the creek. Please do not play in the water above the falls; the Springs is not liable for your actions.
Areas of Interest: Edge Island, Misty Ledge, Tumbled Pool
- Rock Tower: The Rock Tower is a tall mound of rocks in the middle of the Springs. No one knows exactly how they got there. From the top, you can see the entire Springs quite well.
Areas of Interest: Strange Striation, Top of the World, Secret Cavern
--------------------Extreme Difficulty--------------------
- The Mountain: It's a strange world up in the mountains. The creatures up there are tough and feisty; we can only permit those who are willing to use extreme caution to hike into the Mountain. The Mountain Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Mountains, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species.

- The Juran Desert: Outside of the temperate climate that surrounds the Springs is the vast Juran Desert, also known as the Wandering Dunes. It is quite easy to get lost in the desert and so we only allow those who have experience to enter the Juran Desert. The Juran Desert Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Juran Desert, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species

Actions You Wish to Perform: fav.me/d9bcqnw and I rose early in the morning, eager to begin our first day of exploration. Our target, the Mountain. With our newly acquired exploration raffle card we trekked up the mountain face. Paladin's nimble frame easily traversed upwards while I was left to climb vertically, feeling tired in the process. The Sun was just beginning to rise as something caught the earliest gleams of morning light. Eagerly, we ran toward the source of the reflection as soon as level ground was found. Sure enough, we find a cluster of small crystals leading toward the gaping mouth of a dark moist cave. The clusters of crystals grew larger as we walked further and further into the cave. Suddenly something catches the watchful eyes of Paladin, swiftly, he runs over to another crystal cluster, probably assuming that I will follow him throughout the cave.

Actions: I let Peridot carry the mint as we head out into the Glade. We walk around for a while, just enjoying the summer day until I see Peridot perk his head sideways in that bird way. He darts a bit forward and looks around a few times before darting around again to turn his head this way and that way. I am about to verbalize my amusement at his antics when I realize he is probably spreading the smell of the mint, and I should be with him before a Mikri fights him for it.

The actions get a little negative and focus on depression/anxiety, just a warning for anyone who might be affected
Actions: I wake up at 2 feeling disoriented and a little lonely, most of the house is quiet around me and I feel the silence creep toward me. Feeling uneasy I push out of bed and stumble through the darkened house trying not to make too much noise or wake anyone up. I feel panicked. Without even a second thought I push my way outside where a dull orange lantern lights the side of the house and I can finally see my surroundings. It doesn't help. The cold hits me hard, reminding me that the last of summer is slowly dwindling into fall and a shiver runs through me violently. I maneuver around the side of the house so I'm not standing in the door way and double over, crouching to the ground, I try to suppress the next shiver that runs over me. This one has nothing to do with the cold. I feel something clawing at my chest and hear myself breathing forcefully. I fight the urge to scream and instead feel tears start down my cheeks. The next several minutes I spend pacing and stopping trying to control my breathing and the sounds of my sobs. As I do, thoughts swirl through my head, repeating and destructive, about me, about family, about Kyler, it just keeps repeating. I finally stop one last time and squish my face into my hands and try to stop the shaking.
A sound snaps somewhere close out in the wilds and my head jolts up sharply. Fear sets in and I mentally calculate how long it will take me to round the corner back inside. My fear peaks when something pads toward me. They are soft, without tension, approaching at a casual pace. A dark form peeks into the dull light and I recognize Jasper immediately. Though relieved my body doesn't calm itself down and I tremble as a greeting. Jasper closes the distance and butts his head against me, his calm is a harsh contrast to his usual high energy. I reach a hand down and pet him asking if something is on his mind. He sits down in front of me, looking only at me, ears perked and his tail still. I move to sit again to be next to him and he rests his head on my leg.
We spend a few moments sitting together until Jaspers ears perk toward an unheard noise. With only that as a warning he trots towards it. Slightly calmed and with my curiosity piqued I stand once again to follow the small pup. I find him circling a flighty Tilani . Tilani sees me and twitches his tail up at me approaching me awkwardly thanks to Jaspers (lackluster) excitement. I offer to pet him and he meets my hand halfway, pushing his feathers against my palm. After greeting me, Tilani turns and skitters forward a bit, turning to look at me after a couple paces. Jasper trots forward to sniff at Tilani's muzzle, wagging his tail very softly. I smile at the both of them and follow Tilani's lead, wondering where he'll take me.
The sky has lightened since I first made my way outside and it's easier to see where Tilani is going, If I had to make a guess I'd say we are headed toward the Deep Pond, which is confirmed the moment it comes into view. The three of us walk around the edge of the pond. My mind is a little numb and I just watch the water for a few moments before Jasper surprises both Tilani and I by running into the water with renewed vigor. I call after him but he happily paddles his way through the water until he reaches the land of one of the small islands and clambers out. He shakes off and barks at me happily, wagging his tail. I sigh and look at Tilani, telling him to wait for us before I step in to the water myself. I have a bad rep with water but I decide to brave it to swim over to retrieve Jasper.

Actions: I set out from the adoption center early in the morning to get a good start. The autumn months are closing in and a chill is in the breeze. My parka is warm, and I have a wetsuit on in case I get wet. My destination is the Cold Pond. As I have only been there a few times, and I have done my research, I do my utmost to stay safe and warm. I have left my son at home with my horde of knops, so there is no danger to him, and my mind is at ease. I take the way between the glade and wetlands, press on to the river that connects the Near and Deep ponds. I find a shallow spot, and some dry stepping stones with which to cross, only getting my toes wet. The sun is soon high above and it gets a little warmer now. I unzip my jacket and out pops a stowaway (I seem to have a difficult time with these and really should check my belongings better), but it seems she is just as surprised to see me as well. Nestled in my mickey pocket a little black, pink and white face pops ups. With a quick yawn and glance at her surroundings, Sugar Plum, my shy little knop soon realizes her cozy little nest is not back in the laundry pile where it used to be. She feels the wind hit her fur and chirps and squeak of protest before ducking back down, and shivering in the pocket. "Oh you poor thing, I would up taking another one along with. You little knops are sure a handful," I say, gently patting the pocket to calm the quaking creature. Her tremors soon subside, and I continue my quest.
The Cold Pond is in sight as the first hours of the evening come up us. After crossing the stream that connects the Cold to the Deep, I come across the raft often used to travel to the islands. After checking for leaks, I climb in, and Sugar Plum, having gained some new found confidence, stands at the helm, catching the cool winds in her nose as she darts her head back forth to watch the scenery change around her. I push the wooden craft from the dock and start paddling my way to the West Island. The Pond sure lives up to its name as few short swells break the side of the raft and splash my feet. It does not take overly long before we reach our final destination. I tie the raft to a sturdy willow and look around. Being the larger of the two islands, I hope to find a more diverse form of creature here.
To pass the time, as the sun begins to fall, I whip out my camera to try and capture some pictures of the sunset while I wait. Sugar Plum perches on my shoulder, standing guard over me while I concentrate on my photography. I feel her tiny claws clench into my parka, as I catch a glimpse of movement out of the corner of my eye, and hear a rustling in some tall grass behind me. I put the camera down to face the creature as it emerges from the foliage.

Actions: I bring along Kürn , excited to check out the forest right after sunset. Having departed the agency right as the sun starting setting, the sky was absolutely gorgeous on the hike out to the forest. By the time I arrived at the forest it was quickly getting dark, and once I entered the trees it just got darker. Kürn seemed excited to be out and about and I trusted him to have free reign while I explored. In what seemed like over an hour but couldn't have been more than 30 minutes I stumbled upon the ruins of an old temple. I look around some of the pillars and walls, searching for something that might be hiding in here and hoping desperately that Kürn doesn't decide to be a jerk and jump out at me.

Actions You Wish to Perform: After having trouble sleeping recently, I've been quite restless and irritable, and tonight's been no different. However, tonight's a good night to set out, because I heard I'd gotten a chance to go on another exploration to bring home a friend. So, instead of rolling over trying to sleep for the third night in a row again, I just get on up and start packing my trusty backpack with provisions. Food, water, blankets, ponchos, a rope, a flashlight, just all the basic stuff I can think of to take out as I usually do. Oh, and a first aid kit, there's been one too many times I've come back wondering how I didn't end up dead or seriously injured. It becomes increasingly clear to me as I pack that I'm not the only one having trouble sleeping, when Shiver decides to give me a hand in making sure I have everything set and ready to go. On the way out, he follows, and ends up waking up Kahuna by stepping on his tail on accident. At first the poor Flera is grumpy and snappy about it, but as he wakes up he realizes we're headed out and he decides to tag along. And then we're out the door, I'm checking my boots to make sure they're not too worn in for the trip, and we're sloshing around in the currently wet grounds surrounding my house. We pass by the Xoals on the way out, though, and we end up with one more traveling companion. Pride seems eager and curious, and she sniffs at Shiver and Kahuna before whinnying and trotting along beside us. Had I known she was coming originally I might have just put some of the weight on my back on her instead, but it's alright.
So we travel along in the dark for awhile, until it starts getting light out. There's a couple of times Kahuna climbs up on Pride and jumps off her in a vain attempt to fly; the poor guy doesn't want to believe his only feathers are just markings. Shiver walks steadily at my side, and Pride nips curiously at the things we pass by, tiny creatures and bits of grass and other plantlife here and there.
When we finally reach the area that we deem was named Life Flowers in the Forest of Voices, we take a break for a bit to relax, and as we sit together we watch the sun come up, Shiver resting his head in my lap as I give them each loving pets. Sure, we'll explore more now that we're here. We'll just..do it later, after the sun's come up a little more and we've been able to watch dawn break and the beautiful colors that fill the sky....and maybe after a bit of a nap.

I start my journey early, before the sun shrouds the gleaming beauty of the night sky. I packed light, maybe to light for mountain climbing, bringing with me a peculiar Blank Mask.
Reality of the unprepared trek hit when my throat became noticeably dry, no water... Great...
I reach the Scraggy Outcrop just as the Sun begins to reclaim the sky, the outcrop is jagged, and in some places still very dark. The wetness from rains prior to my arrival, cause me to slip a cross the rocks.
I take another step, trying to maneuver over the tricky terrain, but immediately loose my footing. I try catching myself but the rocks are way to sharp. Landing on what seems grass, it broke some of my fall...
The Suns presence in the sky is welcoming, since it's lighting my crevice I had fallen into. I could also see the bag a few feet above me, the mask just barely being held inside. My hands are so scratched up, and even though it's early, it's starting to feel really muggy. My body aches to much to try and save the mask from falling, so I scoot over under the bag as a precaution. Exhausted, throat crying out for water, I compose myself for whatever awaits...

Top of the World is on the very top of the Rock Tower - it takes a strong person to reach it. It's a flat surface, about two meters across in both directions. From the top you can see quite a ways into Desert and over the Grasslands. It's a great lookout. It's said that if you perform the right ritual there, you can communicate with some mythical beings.

Actions: I decide to grab my flashlight and a blanket and decide to take a nice walk through the grasslands by myself, enjoying the short amount of time with no rain and the warm air. While walking around, I decide that I want to do some star gazing and that the hilltop would be a nice spot. When I arrive to my location I put the blanket down, turn my flashlight off, and lay on the blanket, looking up at the clear starry sky.

It is not every day that I gain enough motivation these days to travel far from the shelter. For a long time I had wanted to visit the Crystal cave and today, well night, I was going to visit. With a small pack of gear I head out. Though I did not ask, Elizabeth follows me to help light my way and Dante offers me a lift.
Once there Dante waits outside while Elizabeth follows me in. Her fox fire creates a wondrous affect on the crystals that surround us. Once I had my fill of the sights I begin to search for one of the biggest reasons why I wanted to come; a white colored opal. I heard there might be some and I wanted to find out if my little necklace really came from there.
I take out a necklace that I had gotten a while back to use as a reference. When I think I found a white opal I would hold up the necklace to see if it matches. I takes a while, but I do find a few. I wonder if I would be allowed to take one, but figure it would be for the best to leave it alone.
Neither Elizabeth or I hear something sneaking up on us while we admire the stones in front of us. I only notice the other presence when something tugs on the necklace in my hand.

Actions You Wish to Perform: the Northern Plains are so far from the shelther that even if I made a point of getting up early, the sun is setting by the time I reach the plains. Dusk is painting the sky and clouds with truly charming colours though, and I head for the streamshore after strolling my way out of the blue grasses, whose peculiar scent had attracted me in the first place. At the streamshore, I sit down on a smooth rock to enjoy the sunset scene, but the initial excitement soon leaves place to fatigue and I'm getting cold, so I start tossing small pebbles into the water in the hope that the plopping sound will attract something interesting.

Trait You Are Looking For: Not really sure to be honest? I guess the first things that came to mind would be some minimal white that stands out against the rest of the pet or maybe an accessory of some sort?

Actions You Wish to Perform: Waking up early was never my strong point, and I'm not quite sure it was smart to sign up for a class that would meet every Saturday at nine in the morning. Thankfully the other days of the week the class was at night, but after waking up at seven to get to a class and stick each other and draw blood all morning, I come home, thankfully having had a good day, covered in band-aids. I throw my small bag to the ground and start to pack immediately, having heard that I was one of the limited few who won the contest to be able to explore again. I have a knack for exploring, I'd like to think, and I really just always have fun doing it, so I start to put belongings in a larger backpack as I multitask and change clothes into something not covered in dabs of blood from needle pricks.
Dhaxan is immediately by my side, packing away to-go food bowls into my bag because it's apparently no question whether he's going with me. He made it clear the moment he stuffed his nose into my bag. I pet him with a small laugh, and after packing flashlights and ropes and food and other traveling things I probably won't actually need because it's the middle of the day, I contemplate for a moment if I should take the small blue mirror I've been saving when it catches my eye on the counter. I leave it for another time though, and I'm pretty sure now I'm ready to go, tying my boots and walking out the door with the Wild Lhedis trailing right behind me.
He's a smart boy and he shuts the door for me, and immediately I'm face to face with another companion of mine. Sinshir flies on over and flaps just far enough away from my face, his melodic chirping making its way to my ears. I smile at him and nod my head to the right towards my shoulder. "Well come on then, let's go." And with that he knows he's welcome, and he lands on my shoulder and settles there happily.
For the rest of the trip he's singing little tunes for Dhaxan and I on and off, and sometimes Dhaxan howls and barks along, sometimes it's me who sings something to match his beautiful chirps. Eventually though, we reach our destination. The Burying Grasses. We stare ahead and I give Dhaxan a loving stroke and let Sinshir nibble affectionately on my finger. This is where Dera went before. She came here and brought Eitur back for Madi, and if I remember correctly he actually saved her life in the process. He's been doing that ever since, taking it upon himself to save others, blaming himself whenever it's too late..
And with a rather deep, but shaky breath, I walk forward into the grasses, stuffing my hands down in my pockets and wondering what might happen here. I wanted to learn about this place, know where Eitur came from, what goes on here, but I have to admit..I'm still rather nervous.

Actions: Seeing as how I can't sleep through the night anyway, I find it only fitting to set out at last light. I head north from the Springs to the Muddy Pond. Having never been here (or maybe I have, pregnancy brain is so confusing sometimes), I take along thick rubber boots, a flashlight and a sack full of goodies (double checked for stow-a-ways). Upon reaching the Muddy Pond I see the shadow of what looks like a bridge and make my way towards it, being careful not to get myself stuck in the mucky spots. Something stirs before me as I slowly lift my light to meet it.
