--things are getting a bit slushy right now - it's recommended that you stay off of the ice on the ponds and rivers.
For conservation efforts, we have to limit the amount of people that are in the Springs area at any one given time. If there is a slot below that is empty, you are welcome to begin an exploration. If there is not, you must wait until someone else is finished. There is no waitlist; forms posted when slots are full will be disregarded and hidden.
You may not hold more than one slot at the same time.
You must wait 24 hours after the completion of your previous exploration before starting another one.

Area Information
--------------------Easy Difficulty--------------------
- Wetlands: An area right outside the Shelter's doors, the Wetlands are easily traversed. We recommend that you bring bug spray.
Areas of Interest: Twisted Tree, Dry Island, Sinking Sand
- The Glade: The Glade is a bright copse of aspen and poplar trees only minutes from the shelter. A great place for a picnic.
Areas of Interest: Three Aspens, Meadow, Wildflower Patch
- Deep Pond: The Deep Pond has two small islands. It is quite deep.
Areas of Interest: South Island, North Island, Peninsula
- Near Pond: The Near Pond is the closest of the four to the Shelter. It also has one island that is a bit bigger than Deep's.
Areas of Interest: Island, Shoreline Grasses, Shallows
--------------------Medium Difficulty--------------------
- Cold Pond: The first pond on the stream is the coldest of the four ponds. There is a small raft available should you wish to cross to one of the Cold Pond's island.
Areas of Interest: East Island, West Island, Inlet
- Muddy Pond: The last pond on the stream before it heads out of the Springs is deep, but it does not appear so because of the amount of silt and mud within it. We must ask that you do not try to cross the pond.
Areas of Interest: Mud Flats, Shoreline, Underbridge
- Hot Pool: A warm hot spring rises out of the ground here. If you do not mind sharing the water with a few creatures, it is the perfect place to relax.
Areas of Interest: Spring Source, Scented Grasses, Circling Rocks
- Grasslands: To the east of the Springs, the rolling plains take over. Part of these plains, called the Grasslands, are included within the Spring's jurisdiction.

--------------------Hard Difficulty--------------------
- Far Forest: On the northern side of the Springs a dense, jungle-like forest begins. The Far Forest is dark and humid.
Areas of Interest: Mother Tree, Root Cavern, Canopy
- Northern Plains: To the side of the Far Forest is the North Plain. This plain is similar to the Grasslands, but the trek out there is much more tedious and because of its proximity to the mountains, the creatures found there are typically harder to find.
Areas of Interest: Rock Clumps, Streamshore, Blue Grasses
- Forest of Voices: This mainly coniferous forest is a prickly journey and not for the faint of heart.
Areas of Interest: Pillar of Wood, Life Flowers, Old Temple
- The Falls: These waterfalls signify the end of the Springs jurisdiction along the creek. Please do not play in the water above the falls; the Springs is not liable for your actions.
Areas of Interest: Edge Island, Misty Ledge, Tumbled Pool
- Rock Tower: The Rock Tower is a tall mound of rocks in the middle of the Springs. No one knows exactly how they got there. From the top, you can see the entire Springs quite well.
Areas of Interest: Strange Striation, Top of the World, Secret Cavern
--------------------Extreme Difficulty--------------------
- The Mountain: It's a strange world up in the mountains. The creatures up there are tough and feisty; we can only permit those who are willing to use extreme caution to hike into the Mountain. The Mountain Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Mountains, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species.

- The Juran Desert: Outside of the temperate climate that surrounds the Springs is the vast Juran Desert, also known as the Wandering Dunes. It is quite easy to get lost in the desert and so we only allow those who have experience to enter the Juran Desert. The Juran Desert Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Juran Desert, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species

Actions: It started off as one of those days that all you want to do is laze about. I did nothing of importance and it was glorious. So when my eyes felt heavy I figured, what the hell, and took a nap under a large tree.
I jolted away, the setting sun gazing ominously my way. If asked, I would not be able to explain the sudden fear that gripped me. All rational thought left me and I became blind to my actions. Scrambling I to my feet I ran to the north out of the shelter.
My departure did not go unnoticed, Clover , who had been grazing near by rushes after me. Acting on pure memory I grasp her neck and swing onto her back. Sensing something wrong Clover picks up her pace, even before I am fully on her. Instead I cling to her.
We pass the wetlands, then near and deep ponds. Giving none a second glance Clover rushes on. As she is about to turn and go around the Cold pond, I stop her. Instead I slide off her, yet still clinging to her neck, I guide her till something inside me tells me to stop.
Just as the last light of sun fades, we turn our focus to the East Island.

Wow all that effort and I forgot to mention the f-in sugar cube.
Lets just say I had left overs in my pocket after I had feed Clover earlier in the day. And when I go to feed her some in thanks for getting me there so quickly I drop a few and the roll, well more like bounce closer the the ponds edge. . .
(Look at that I am being creative today. Serious brain why were you not like this 3 hours ago when I had time and did not need to sleep. . . and now I am ranting IGNORE ME)

Actions You Wish to Perform: I hike up to the Scraggy Outcrop with Secid , wanting to show her the place where her mother and father came from all those years ago. Admittedly, I had found Gestirn in a cave, but the outcrop would give the chyft a good view.
It took us while to get all the way up there, but I had packed a sleeping bag just in case since the mountain was a dangerous place at night. We reached the outcrop right as the sun was setting, and Secid was delighted. Paying attention to her delight, both of us are fairly oblivious to any noises, natural or creature made.

Actions: Since my first little trip around the Springs ended up with me getting lost at night, I decided to stick nearer to the buildings this time.
So, picnic in hand as it's a nice day, I set off for the glade with Kairos by my side. At first I was planning on sitting under some trees for shade, but my energetic praire gryphon insisted on a more open space, so we compromised and settled at a pretty wild flower patch instead.
As I set out food - jelly, sandwiches, corn, juice... wait, corn? A brief mental image of Noelle "helping" me pack suddenly came back to me. Oh. That would also explain the rubber duck. I let Kairos wander around and watched him leapfrog through some of the longer grass for a while, before getting up to play with him.

I pack up my bags, making sure I have the steak, my flashlights, an umbrella, some food, and water. I make sure that I have my light jacket tide around my waist and that I have on my best hiking shoes since I have decided to go visit the Rock Tower. As I get ready to leave, I am greeted by two familiar faces, Tanis fav.me/d7addfu and Rakos fav.me/d56no1m , both of them have decided that they want to come with me as well, making sure I am safe and have some company. I pick Tanis up and all of three of us start our journey into the dark night. I use a flashlight to keep the path lit, more so to make sure that I don’t trip or fall or anything clutzy like that. During the journey, Tanis has moved from being held in my arms to being on top of Rakos’ head where she seemed very happy as she could see everything.
We reach the Rock Tower and I look up at it, feeling like this might have been a bad idea when I see how tall it is. Rakos nudges me to continue and start climbing to the top of the Rock Tower, shaking the entire time, hoping I don’t make any wrong moves or steps. All of us take several breaks during the climb because of me needing water or just needing a break. I decide to open the backpack and leave it open, so the scent of the steak comes out of the backpack. We get close to the top when I grab onto a loose rock and slip, but Rakos and Tanis keep me from falling and keep pushing me up to the top. We finally reach it and and I collapse onto ground, breathing heavily and never wanting to do this again.
I take the backpack off and give some food and water to Rakos and Tanis. Tanis sits in my lap as she is happily squirming as she looks around the view that we have from the top of the tower. The sky is full of stars and the ground as lights that pop up then fade from critters with bioglow markings running around. Rakos almost blends into the night sky with his markings as he sits by me. I try carefully stand up but in the process accidentally kick my backpack and the steak falls out, several feet below where we are on the rocks. I just let it stay there for a bit while I regain my strength, not wanting to climb back down to grab that and not letting Rakos to get it either because I am enjoying the moment with my two pets too much.

Every time I decide to go exploring, I make it a point to leave early. So, the fact that I want to be in the Juran Desert by the time day really hits means that I start off in the early morning so I can be there by around noon or at least one o'clock. It takes awhile to travel far distances and no matter what friends I bring along, we all like to stop and take breaks every once in a while. So at seven in the morning, I'm stepping out of my house and down the wooden steps of my front porch. Today it seems the friends who wanted to go are all waiting for me, and they're all extremely...pink. To top it off they're all boys, too. Pink boys. And all quite determined to go. Soldier is sitting by my feet the second I leave the house, tail whapping in the grass excitedly. He's dragged along Hinode to his side, since the white feral isn't used to the outside world and has certainly never gone as far as the desert before. Phiradī has situated himself standing next to Kiyumars , whose trunk is wrapping around and exploring every inch of Påske that he can find. All five of them are ready to go, Kiyumars with saddlebags at his sides full of anything we might possibly need in case the trip somehow ends up being overnight. There's all sorts of food and water and flashlights with batteries and blankets in them, and of course I also have on my own little backpack with extra things as well, ropes and a change of clothes and whatever other necessities I could find while packing for this trip.
I don't feel I quite fit in with the boys, so after running back into the house for a moment, I return wearing a pink shirt of my own as well as sneakers with pink laces. Might as well fit in, right? So with that we head off for a pink boy's day out, and make our way to the desert.
It starts off with everyone walking quietly, doing their own thing, looking around, sometimes wandering when something catches someone's attention. But by the time we've actually reached the desert Soldier is napping on Phiradī's back, and Hinode has taken to flying overhead hoping the wind through his mane will keep him cool. I myself have taken to riding on Kiyumars' back, and the curious Påske wanders around sniffing and pawing at everything he can. Tummies are starting to growl and since we've reached midday and are in the desert in the middle of summer, it's /hot/ out and we decide to stop where we are. We're basically in the middle of nowhere, as far as I'm concerned, but to Phiradī, home isn't a long-shot away from here, and he loves the feel of the sand between his toes, even if he would prefer to be here at night.
We all move to sit on our butts on the hot desert sand, on blankets of course, after I've slid off of Kiyumars and grabbed the saddlebags, and we enjoy a nice lunch with, thankfully, lots of water at hand to fill our tummies and keep us hydrated.
It's at this point that we simply decide to relax even though it's hot out, lying around and waiting for whatever may approach. I keep my eye out for any snakes, knowing that while this is exactly what I'm looking for, Kiyumars, Soldier, and Påske might be prone to panicking as soon as they see a Corpon, and I'd prefer if my elephant friend /didn't/ possibly step on and squash my potential new friend. My eyes are wide open and I keep my place, unmoving from my spot. I know that if I go back now with anything less than a Corpon I won’t be satisfied, so I’ll stay as long as I have to to find what I seek, heels dug into the sand and fists clenched in anticipation.

Actions You Wish to Perform: The hot weather of the last few days induced me to do something. I couldn't stand the heat anymore and so I had decided, to take a trip to the Rock Tower in hope of a chill breeze. I invited Lacarta to accompany me, therefore the idea shaped to find a suitable mate for her. On the day I got her I weren't all that happy about her look. Firstly, i didn't like her. But over time I got very attached to that Cyrii, her colors and her markings and meanwhile, I dearly love her.
In the middle of the night we start our adventure, not caring much about the fact, how dumb it is to climb up a Rock Tower in the darkest of the night without any light. Lacarta has no problems to climb up all those big rocks. She's agile, strong and doesn't need light to see in the dark. The beautiful Cyrii Lady leads me slowly and safely through the darkness. Halfway up, we take a break. I'm exhausted, while Lacarta sits beside and looks at me, like it was nothing. I pet her soft fur and she purrs kindly back at me, before I get to my backpack to look for the water bottle I thought was supposed to be in there. To my astonishment, there is no water bottle. It seems like I grabbed the wrong bottle and instead of water I took a Fly Away Potion. Silly me...
Frustrated and still thirsty we sit here and stare up the sky to marvel the beautiful stars.

Actions: It was getting a bit dark when i step outside with nothing but a flashlight and a jacket, due to our schedules and general sleeping habits being out of sync I had been alone last night and most of the next day (no Kyler or Dera, I was pretty pathetic.) In my time alone I decided to cuddle up with some pets and watch a movie in the living room, unfortunately my movie of choice had been a horror flick, it was pretty basic, a family moved into a house filled with ghosties and some scurry sh-- happen. Still, sitting alone with my own thoughts and only the fur of in-home pets too keep me company I was a pretty big baby about the whole movie and, at certain points, would hold the closest possible pet in front of my eyes to block the screen when something was going down. The whole next day I decidedly didn't sleep in favor of reading creepy and unnerving stories until Dera got up.
It was now nightfall again and I, sleep deprived and adrenaline driven, was going out into the night, why? Because I am possibly dumb and a thrill seeker and I, kinda, don't believe spirits exist so I'm safe right? Or rather, I should say, I don't believe I've done anything to evoke a spirit's anger so I should be good right? Right. I see something out of the corner of my eye and tense immediately, did I really just jinx myself, right outside of my own house? I look at what looks like blue mist as it moves, it's movements are weird and trailing behind it is a ball of silver that sways to-and-fro, under the mist are weird.... blue marshmallow looking things that move in an odd see-saw motion as whatever this thing is moves towards me. I'm too petrified to turn my flashlight on so instead I stare at it with eyes blown wide. A meow violently turns my fear to confusion and suddenly everything makes sense as the figure finally has a shape. The blue marshmallows turn into feet and among the mist there are two blue eyes. La has come to greet me, with his eyes so calculating I can tell he knows everything about what just happened and what is /about/ to happen and I can tell he wants to come with me. I'm a bit embarrassed but I bend down and pet him anyway, he purrs and rubs his head into my hand in a strange show of affection. There is a sudden sound from behind me and I whip around again, this time clicking on my flashlight to spot whatever it is, I assume it's another pet but my heart is still racing. I was right though, it was Genoval , who has a determined look while she pads over to me. It seems she wants to come along as well. I look my two companions with a perplexed expression but shrug it off and head out into the night.
La and Genoval keep close by me as I walk, they both look forward and keep to my pace on either side of me, Genoval dutiful and La almost a bit.. excited? I, however, am extremely paranoid and keep flinching and twitching at almost every sound. La almost seems to lead us to our destination, which is apparently the cold pond. Genoval starts to scout the area almost immediately and La walks over to the water calmly, he sits at the water's edge looking extremely mystical and beckons me with his eyes. In a strange sense of understanding I consider my options, I don't have the best of luck when it comes to water at night, I think vaguely as I look down at the scar on my bare leg, my mind decides to ignore my extremely paranoid instincts and with a flimsy resolve I step into the water. The moment my skin feels the cold of the water small shivers work up my body until my whole being trembles slightly, I can't tell if it's from the cold or the fear, I decide not to dwell on it. I take a few good strides until the water is just barely lapping against the edge of my shorts. There is a sudden and loud bark from behind me and I feel a hard chill up my spine. I whip around, suddenly breathing heavy, and shine my flashlight back in the direction I came from, neither La nor Genoval are in sight any longer and I feel a bit of dread rise in my throat.

Actions You Wish to Perform: Rather than taking a companion with me, I decide to head to the Mountain alone. I take a pack of standard supplies for mountain travel and head out, trying to use my days wisely so I don't tire myself out for the trek up the mountain. After reaching the mountain I slowly and carefully go about climbing and trekking my way up the mountain, searching for the Crystal Cave I have heard about. Maybe if I can find it there may be sparkly pets inside, seems perfectly logical. So I spend most of the day and night searching for this cave, that I probably should have researched before I even started this exploration. By some stroke of luck, I find what I think to be the Crystal Cave just as the last bits of sunlight are appearing on the horizon. As I am making my way into the cave I take my time and look around a bit, hoping to find something glittery or sparkly, maybe gem like seeing as how I love stones and anything that sparkles.

Actions: Upon reaching to the Far Forest, I take a quick look around. I'll need a place to camp out, and with the cyrii around, it's probably best not to be on the ground. I look up at one of the trees and bite my lip. It looks high and steep - not fun to climb. But I try anyway, and eventually manage to get up near the top. I stretch out on a branch and continue to look around. I take my spell tag out of my pocket and turn it over, examining it and trying to figure out how it works. Giving up, I hold onto it, hands crossed over my chest, and look up through the thick branches trying to see the stars until I nod off to sleep.

Actions You Wish to Perform: Kaylie swatted at a mosquito as she sloshed through the wetlands. It had been raining off and on all week and the wetlands were... wet. Even with her rain boots on she had still managed to get water in her shoes. She let out a frustrated sound, but continued on. She wanted desperately to find a new companion. She loved Darce and Siles , but now that they were recovering they weren't around as much and she was getting lonely during the days.
The two Dawnbirds flew over her head, singing softly as they talked to each other. A smile flickered over Kaylie's face as she watched the two birds fly about. Another mosquito quickly ruined the moment by biting her on the neck. Kaylie squealed and slapped her hand over it, swatting it away and running to catch up to her birds. They had landed in the branches of a twisted old tree that looked as old as the Earth itself.
As she looked up to see the tops of the branches, Kaylie's hood fell back and a soft breeze blew her hair out of her face. The tree was truly amazing. Darce and Siles looked down at her and whistled at her, asking her to join them. Kaylie hesitated then nodded. "Be right there," she muttered, jumping up to grab the lowest branch and hoping it wouldn't break under her weight. It held strong and she managed to pull herself up onto it. It didn't take her long to reach the spot where Darce and Siles were waiting.
Looking out over the Wetlands from the high branches of the tree, Kaylie could see how people would see this place as beautiful. Even as another mosquito bit at her barely exposed ankles, she knew that her trip would be worth it. Any companion she found from this place would be just as amazing as Darce and Siles were.

Actions: I leave the shelter as the sun is setting. One of those times that it feels necessary to walk nowhere, I guess. As Rytec and I come across a pond. I look at remnants of the day reflecting off its surface.
We sit near the grassy edge and Rytec cuddles, he seems to be lonely as of late. I start to drift in thought absently petting him.
As I listen to my surroundings, the sunlight has gone exposing the beauty of the stars, and it becomes quite relaxing. There is rustling from the grass as Rytec finds things to pounce at.
The water lapping at the bank is rhythmic. I try not to nod off,… Ya sure..

Actions: It's actually night when I start out on my journey. I try to stay as quiet as possible, knowing all of my beautiful pets are sound asleep, but I don't escape the watchful eye of one of them. I've been sick recently, and with a combination of the flu and my pollen allergies taking a toll on me, I'm in pretty rough shape. I look tired, and despite trying to be quiet, I still have coughing fits and have to bring out my tissues to blow my nose every now and then. I step out the door quietly, but I don't notice as I shut it behind me that someone has followed.
It's pitch black out still, and it's raining. Cold, wet rain. As I take it in and step out into the night, I let myself become drenched, watching ahead of me at nothing in particular with tired, sick eyes. Looking to the house right next to mine, I smile a little bit. Madi would be ordering me back in bed right now, telling me no, it's not okay to go out when you're this sick, especially not the day before your birthday. You'll die out there in your condition. But I can't sleep, and I've nothing else to do, so as I look down to tap my boots and make sure they're in place, I'm surprised when I see what I should call Madi's Lhedis form sitting at my heels. Inje , with her caring, mother-like nature, knows she can't stop my from my journey, but between her teeth she carries the backpack I always venture out with and never forget, and draped across her back is a fluffy, warm looking coat. With a small thank you, I take it and put it on, then also putting on my backpack.
Yes, I know Madi would try to stop me right now, but..she can't really. She's out on an exploration of her own, and would have no idea I'm even outside right now in the rain. Inje, however, decides to be Madi's voice of reason in her absence. Instead of dragging me back into the house to sleep, because she knows I won't, she gently takes my hand with her teeth and tugs, leading the way. She never once lets go, and as the sun starts to rise and the rain fades out of existence, I follow her silently to wherever she decides we should go.
I seem to tire out easily, but who with the flu wouldn't do just that, and as a result it takes us awhile to reach Inje's destination. The Muddy Pond, it seems, is where she wants us to stop. Once we're there, she gently lets my hand go and searches for a few moments before finding a dry spot, and proceeds to drag me to it, where she lies down and pulls me with her, using her own body heat and fur as a warm pillow so I can rest as we await whatever might want to find us.
I suppose, as the beautiful twilight hours of dawn light the sky in shades of pinks and oranges, I don't even realize that my eyes slip shut a final time, and I've fallen asleep curled up with the motherly Lhedis who wouldn't let me leave without a helpful, guiding paw.
