--things are getting a bit slushy right now - it's recommended that you stay off of the ice on the ponds and rivers.
For conservation efforts, we have to limit the amount of people that are in the Springs area at any one given time. If there is a slot below that is empty, you are welcome to begin an exploration. If there is not, you must wait until someone else is finished. There is no waitlist; forms posted when slots are full will be disregarded and hidden.
You may not hold more than one slot at the same time.
You must wait 24 hours after the completion of your previous exploration before starting another one.

Area Information
--------------------Easy Difficulty--------------------
- Wetlands: An area right outside the Shelter's doors, the Wetlands are easily traversed. We recommend that you bring bug spray.
Areas of Interest: Twisted Tree, Dry Island, Sinking Sand
- The Glade: The Glade is a bright copse of aspen and poplar trees only minutes from the shelter. A great place for a picnic.
Areas of Interest: Three Aspens, Meadow, Wildflower Patch
- Deep Pond: The Deep Pond has two small islands. It is quite deep.
Areas of Interest: South Island, North Island, Peninsula
- Near Pond: The Near Pond is the closest of the four to the Shelter. It also has one island that is a bit bigger than Deep's.
Areas of Interest: Island, Shoreline Grasses, Shallows
--------------------Medium Difficulty--------------------
- Cold Pond: The first pond on the stream is the coldest of the four ponds. There is a small raft available should you wish to cross to one of the Cold Pond's island.
Areas of Interest: East Island, West Island, Inlet
- Muddy Pond: The last pond on the stream before it heads out of the Springs is deep, but it does not appear so because of the amount of silt and mud within it. We must ask that you do not try to cross the pond.
Areas of Interest: Mud Flats, Shoreline, Underbridge
- Hot Pool: A warm hot spring rises out of the ground here. If you do not mind sharing the water with a few creatures, it is the perfect place to relax.
Areas of Interest: Spring Source, Scented Grasses, Circling Rocks
- Grasslands: To the east of the Springs, the rolling plains take over. Part of these plains, called the Grasslands, are included within the Spring's jurisdiction.

--------------------Hard Difficulty--------------------
- Far Forest: On the northern side of the Springs a dense, jungle-like forest begins. The Far Forest is dark and humid.
Areas of Interest: Mother Tree, Root Cavern, Canopy
- Northern Plains: To the side of the Far Forest is the North Plain. This plain is similar to the Grasslands, but the trek out there is much more tedious and because of its proximity to the mountains, the creatures found there are typically harder to find.
Areas of Interest: Rock Clumps, Streamshore, Blue Grasses
- Forest of Voices: This mainly coniferous forest is a prickly journey and not for the faint of heart.
Areas of Interest: Pillar of Wood, Life Flowers, Old Temple
- The Falls: These waterfalls signify the end of the Springs jurisdiction along the creek. Please do not play in the water above the falls; the Springs is not liable for your actions.
Areas of Interest: Edge Island, Misty Ledge, Tumbled Pool
- Rock Tower: The Rock Tower is a tall mound of rocks in the middle of the Springs. No one knows exactly how they got there. From the top, you can see the entire Springs quite well.
Areas of Interest: Strange Striation, Top of the World, Secret Cavern
--------------------Extreme Difficulty--------------------
- The Mountain: It's a strange world up in the mountains. The creatures up there are tough and feisty; we can only permit those who are willing to use extreme caution to hike into the Mountain. The Mountain Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Mountains, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species.

- The Juran Desert: Outside of the temperate climate that surrounds the Springs is the vast Juran Desert, also known as the Wandering Dunes. It is quite easy to get lost in the desert and so we only allow those who have experience to enter the Juran Desert. The Juran Desert Area is outside of the Springs jurisdiction and therefore there are creatures up there that we do not regularly carry in the Springs. When you venture into the Juran Desert, you are guaranteed to come home with an unlisted species

Time of Day: Night; Ruined Temple
Actions You Wish to Perform: I pack away the water into the satchel along with some provisions. After my last few visits to the desert I have learned to pack enough to last a few days. I decide to take Dighost with me, in hope that he can keep me warm in the cold night. Rub' al Khali drops the two of us off at the entrance to the Ruined Temple and flies back to the shelter. My Ixel presses forward, smelling his way through the dark and dimming his bio-glow to remain ingognito. As we walk into the dark, my eyes begin to adjust and I survey the scene before me. The walls were caked in the desert sand, but some glyphs could been seen behind them. I grab my flashlight from the bag and begin gently brushing the walls. As the grain fall to the temple floor, Dighost hears another noise coming from further in. We walk cautiously in the dark, using my light to shine ahead to alert any creature of our presence since we don't want to scare them. Dighost perked his ears forward as he heard another scuffle. My light glanced forward and instead of walls, fell on a pillar, the beams glancing carefully around it and falling on the tail of an Ixel, barely catching a glimpse before dashing to hide behind another pillar.
I carefully set the light down by the wall and switch it to a dimmer setting. Dighost healed to my side and lay at my feet, ready to defend me if this Ixel was not in a friendly mood. A growl is heard from in front of me and the sound of sand being compressed under paws was added to it. I reach into my bag and pull out the flask of water I brought with me along with my eating bowl. The bowl was clean but still held my scent and could help acclimatize the new creature to me. I pour the contents into the container, and while relatively low to the ground, I creep closer to the growling animal. Dighost is more tense now, but I calmly place a hand on his head to help relax him, as his anxiety is only making it worse. The growl quiets as I slide the bowl closer and back away. The tail of my purple companion flies back and forth as we both wait patiently for the new Ixel to show itself.

Actions: As I am leaving to head out to the grasslands, Quiana Lay flies out of the sky to fly circles around me. She seems excited that I am leaving. I pat her nose a few times before heading off towards the grasslands. Quiana Lay seems to use this travel time as a game, playing peekaboo behind random objects, and hiding herself whenever I turn around to look at her. She spends her time flying by me at high speeds to ruffle my clothing and mess up my hair, seeming to only laugh at the indignant noises I make at her. When I finally do reach the Grasslands, Quiana seems delighted at the wide open expanse of land before us. She excitedly starts flying all over, watching the way the grasses move as she flits by happily. After she is done drawing random squiggles in the grass with wind she turns a mischievous eye onto me and before I know it she has my backpack in her mouth and is flying off with it, worried she may swallow it, or rip it I chase after Quiana in hops she will let it go, which she does. She drops my backpack in some very thick grass and it takes me a few minutes to find the discarded plaything. When I do find it I see that everything has scattered all about, I send an unimpressed look towards Quiana Lay, who is lazily floating through the air with a smirk on her face. I sigh and start to pick up my things, after I have most of it picked up, I grumble again as I notice the fall had ripped open my package of sugar cubes. Now they were scattered all around the small impact zone my backpack created. Not wanting to just leave them, I sigh once again and start to meticulously pick them up one by one as Quiana hovers around me, most likely wondering why I am dancing so funkily.

What do the areas of interest affect? Species? Color? Gender? ouo Just curious!

To expand, for future readers, areas of interest further detail the markings that a creature found there could have. For example, a visit to the Hot Pool would typically get you a blue/green base with light swirly or bubbly markings. When you specify, say, Scented Grasses, the colour possibilities change to greens and yellows with orange or pink accents, in commonly some sort of striped pattern.
The reason for these distinctions is survival. An animal that blends into its surroundings is more likely to survive than one that stands out. So areas of interest allow a greater colour palette for different areas that may generally have one colour scheme in the broader terms.

Actions: Kyungsoo moves out of our house swiftly and with ease, skittering along the ground unnoticed by anyone but myself as he makes his way out upon the lands. He seems to be carrying a very tiny backpack, much like my own bigger one but Rodent Mikri sized, and he doesn't mind it a bit. He, in fact, seems to love his new backpack, it's almost as if he never wants to take it off.
Typically my explorations are long and they happen at night time, but Kyungsoo himself is of a much smaller scale. We were planning on going earlier today but we got a late start, though at least it's still light enough out that I can keep an eye on him. Being so small causes me worry for his safety, and what will be a small exploration for myself will be much larger and longer for a tiny creature such as himself. I offered him the safety of my arms but he insisted on skittering around on the ground, or we could have gone later this evening if he would have agreed.
As it is, though, he seems perfectly safe, skittering around past rocks and fallen leaves in the cold weather as I bundle up in my jacket. It isn't long to me before we reach the near pond, they do call it near for a reason, but by the time we get there, Kyungsoo seems a little tired, and he crawls up into my hands and rests there as I sit and make myself comfortable. After a little re-adjusting and pulling out any necessities, Kyungsoo is in his own tiny rodent mikri sweater and he's shuffling around in his little backpack.
He pulls out the beetle inside, which he once again insisted on carrying himself, and makes sure it can't just escape before we draw in what we're looking for, keeping his little paws closed around it as he scoots away from me near the water, not currently frozen but quite cold. He simply lies there waiting to see if a Garden Avis will approach him. Though his excitement about meeting a new possible friend is obvious, he seems tired and his eyes close every now and then as he drifts in and out of consciousness.

Actions: It's a warm sunny day so I head out with Kairav springsofiyore.deviantart.com/… for a trip to the falls. The water cascades into a deep rocky pool. It looks so inviting I dive in for a swim followed closely by the momet. Relaxing in the water, I don't notice the movement near the far side of the pool. Kairav bumps my hand with his head to get my attention just in time for me to see a small sleek animal disappear back under the water. We watch as it appears a few more times, curious but shy enough to disappear when it realises it's been seen. Swimming back to the shore I retrieve a minnow from my pack hoping to attract the creature over.

Actions: I reach into my bag and pull out my Exploration Pass. I bring Rub' al Khali and Dighost as well as they are both useful in this unforgiving terrain and may prove to be helpful in the coming days. I double check my satchel for adequate food and water before venturing into the desert, as it may be some time before I return with a creature. After walking a few leagues past the Oasis and Ruined Temple I come to the Dunes where I met both my desert creatures. As the time I aim for approaches I reach into my bag pull out the rattle and shake it rhythmically during the dusky hours. As each day passes, I only rattle it during dusk. And after what felt like forever, on the final day I was in the desert (probably for a long while) I hear a faint slithering through the sand dune before me.

Actions You Wish to Perform: It started at dawn, really, the trek to the Northern Plains. A quiet breakfast of trying to wake up early when normally the only Explorations I'd ever been on had been at night when all the other explorers were typically sleeping, followed by Xiumin barking and running out the door because he knew today was a special day. He was going on his first Exploration with me since he'd come into the family, and he was, needless to say, almost too excited. After a lazy shower and plenty of small humming noises from myself trying to just wake up and get on with it, Sehun rolled his eyes and brushed past me, almost annoyed that I wasn't awake yet, or at least not completely. He always seemed annoyed or like he just didn't care about anything, though he must have cared or he wouldn't have decided to venture with us on our journey; if not he was at least curious, though he'd never admit it. And so we headed off after making sure my backpack had all the essentials. It took quite awhile to reach our destination, venturing past the Wetlands and the Glade towards the bridge that separated the Hot Pool from the Deep Pond.
Upon our adventure there's plenty of creatures to see, birds off in the distance sitting in trees, Finned Feral Avis occasionally poking their heads out of the water, a Lhedis or a Xoal running by here or there. Once or twice a Rodent Mikri skittered across my path, tickling my feet which were in nothing but a pair of sandals today. Seeing so many creatures made me smile, though it seemed to get Sehun on the defensive. He knew we would be bringing home another creature today, hopefully an Ikeda with any luck, but it was as if he were still saying, "No, that's my human. Mine. Get your own." Quite the protective Feral with an attitude, though he still would have claimed he didn't care if he could speak.
Xiumin is much more relaxed, running around and sniffing at the base of trees as we venture by the Forest of Voices. Every now and then a wild creature catches his attention and depending on what he finds, he'll end up playing with them or chasing them away with his excited barking. His silly antics have me chuckling and rolling my eyes all the way to the Northern Plains, and by the time we get there it's about time to have lunch. Making our way over to a nice rock to sit on, it's quite easy to relax here even in the heat of the sun blaring down upon us. The backpack I carry at all times on my Explorations slides off me easily and I take out several items. First is the Draconian Potion at the top of the bag, which I set aside next to me because I need to get to the things below it. Portable water and food bowls with all the essentials come next, setting Xiumin and Sehun up for their lunch as I sit back quietly with a sandwich, watching out over the plains in a relaxed manner as I lean back on my elbows. Yes, it's hot, but it's a pretty day out. Not a cloud in the sky.
The sun doesn't seem to come in handy for many though. Not only is the heat too much, but it seems as though the only creatures I'm finding are hidden in with the colors of the plains. The day makes them too obvious and so the only gentle creatures out are ones whose colorations don't stand out to predators. It seems the bright purples and blues I seem to see at night are gone, replaced by subtle beiges and browns as the creatures of the Plains try to make their presence unknown to any of us who could be considered predators. Losing my concentration for a moment, I pull out the starflower tucked into the water bottle pouch of my backpack, twirling it between my fingers as I raise my other hand to take a bite of my sandwich. It's a pretty flower, really, the purple hues almost seeming to shine in the light of the sun. I've always found flowers to be quite fascinating, and surely this one is no different.

Actions: Deciding its time to venture out I pack my pack with small amount of goodies and leave the springs. I continue walking steadily with slight sprinkles of rain on my face along the way. It felt nice though since the hot summer air felt like blow dryers against your bare skin. After walking several hours my feet throbbed but I had made it to the plains. I briskly took my shoes touched the soft grass with my beare feet. I ploped down and quietly looked at the night sky enjoying the night stars by myself peacefully.

I smile happily to my self for I can now go to the desert as I have waited for a long time for this. So for this cool almost morning day, I set out a bit before dawn. So that just a bit of light is shining over the dunes just as I make it into the desert. I know I must be fast or it will be too hot for me soon.
By my side is Malikia springsofiyore.deviantart.com/… who is a old pro, aka he has been to the desert before. Also coming is Numair alicethehunted.deviantart.com/… and springsofiyore.deviantart.com/… Lazuli. Both of which are so happy to finally get to travel with me, even if it is to the desert.
Lazuli is even more happy when on our way to the desert a flock of magpie's come towards him to play. Numair joins in while I sit on Malikai. This frolicking continues till we make it to the desert. Once in the magpie's fly off, but not before saying their good byes.
When everyone of the magpies fly off, only then do Malikai, Numair, and Lazuli spreed their wings and take to the sky. As speed is our friend for none of us want to be caught in the heat once the sun gets to high.

Actions You Wish to Perform: I head out with a few tools and water bottles and since the day is coming to an end I realized that its not as hot as if I were going to leave in the middle of the day. I explore for awhile looking around just admiring the place and seeing something I'd never seen before till I realize that I've strayed off a bit a little farther then I wanted to. I lay in the sand for a little and play with it then sit up and look across the land hoping to spot anything that might be close to me.

Actions: after a lazy afternoon I have a lot of unspent energies to let out and decide to venture out of the shelter again. My pets don't seem much enthusiastic about my idea, as they're either napping or nibbling on their dinner, so I head out alone in the evening breeze.
The grasslands aren't that far from the shelter, but moving across the tall grass turns out to be harder than I expected and dusk is falling quickly. At some point I realize that my only orientation point of choice, the rock formations lying far in the distance, is out of my sight due to the approaching darkness of the night.
With panic rising in my chest, the reality that I'm lost and alone in the grasslands begins to sink in. I start to stumble around trying to find my way back to the safety of the shelter, but I'm only getting more desperate with each step, until I'm forced to stop all of a sudden, frozen by the rustle of something moving around in the grass and coming towards me.

I shook my head to get him to stop cause it was ticklish . I stood under some overhanging rocks and took out a candy bar which I opened and took a few bites . Patience watched to candy bar closely .

Actions: Being a creature of the night herself, I decide to bring along Harmony , she is a level-headed, well behaved Cyrii so I don't worry much when she flies out of sight every now and then to chase a firefly. I, however, sit still in the scented grasses with a handfull of safflower seeds humming a low, calming tune, waiting for a night bird to arrive.

Actions: Veiva and I head into the forest with the intent of finding something interesting. After exploring for a while we eventually stumble upon a Root Cavern. Enthralled, I start exploring the cavern for a little while, but eventually I stop to let Veiva give her wings a rest since she had been flying along with me. After we both eat a small bit I pull a Dark Orb out of my backpack. I toss it between my hands for a minute or two before I notice Veiva watching the Orb intently. I wiggling it at her and then roll it away from myself into the darkness in front of me. Veiva pounces after it but doesn't bring it back like I thought she would. But being able to see her glow I just stand, adjust my backpack, and head towards her to get the Orb back.

Actions You Wish to Perform: I have not left the Near Pond since my last Exploration, having just acquired a new knop, I reach into my backpack and pull out my second burlap bag. With my new female tucked in my hoodie (still unnamed) I venture toward the large island at the centre of the pond. There is a small canoe docked near the shore and I push off, digging under the seat for the paddle. The new female from the grasses has popped out of the hoodie and stands at the helm, crooning out over the waters, beaming with excitement. I don't believe she has ever been to the island before. Once we reach the shore, I stow the canoe near a tree, disembarking and walking closer to the middle of the island. The second burlap bag is moving, and I disregard, thinking it is only my newest pet playing around, until I hear her soft croon, answered by a different chirp from within the bag.

Only a day after returning from the Desert Lady was harrumphing anxiously by the gate. It wasn’t that she *couldn’t* get out more that she wanted to *go* somewhere. Longwei, fast befriending her as something as rare and exquisite as he himself was, hovered nearby looking longingly to the west. I think of saying no, but then Cage and Cyan are rushing about excitedly refusing to sit down and hear why I don’t want to go so soon after our trek through the desert. With a sigh I set to packing my bag again.
Food, water, some paper if I need to write out a last will and testimony while I’m off on another crazy adventure. Cage and Cyan wandered in after me waking up Inculte from his corner and stirring his curiosity. He came and stuck his head in the bag digging about and finding an apple which he quickly started munching on. After rescuing the rest of my provisions I turn to find Cage mostly immersed in my jewelry box, even having managed to put on (with Cyan’s help I suspected based on his cheeky smirk) my necklace and decorate his ears with some bracelets. Rolling my eyes I rescue my shinies as well. However I leave the necklace on him as he seems completely unwilling to part with it.
All set, or as set as I’m going to get I return to the gate and my impatient friends rise excitedly.
“My feet still hurt; I’m going to need a lift.” I inform Longwei with a shrug. “Shall I ask Niewyn to come along?”
He thought for a moment, he didn’t mind carrying me occasionally but normally only at his desire. Still it would be a way to show off for Lady. He inclined his head granting me permission, then lowered himself enough for me to clamber up, I wish I could say elegantly, but it wasn’t. Cage bounced around next to the gate while Cyan had managed to tuck himself safely upon my shoulder as though to make sure he wouldn’t be left behind this time. He was a lot fluffier than Toil had been on the mountain but comfortable as well. His tiny contented grunts soothing.
Inculte rose into the air and sped forward turning a loop happily and Longwei rose swiftly after. Lady reared up and took to the sky as well. However a panicked whine came from below and she circled back and saw poor Cage stuck behind the gate. She didn’t know this creature still she could be kind after all Longwei had a passenger. She landed and with a glare that demanded good behavior allowed the momet to jump up on her back.
Soon we were soaring West, the wind was magnificent on my face and glorious. I laughed in joy. We flew for hours. Inculte doing acrobatics to tease the two fliers with passengers. Longwei occasionally pulling a stunt that left me dizzy and clutching at his neck in panic, but had Cyan squeaking in pleasure. Lady seemed content to put on bursts of speed to tease poor Inculte who would have to struggle to catch up. It was wonderful.
We landed as the sun was setting on the mountainside. I decided it couldn’t hurt to set up a small camp and perhaps explore a little. So I Cage and Cyan took to walking further up the mountain. I knew there was a Crystal Cave around the mountain somewhere, but I didn’t hold out too much hope of finding it in the ever growing dark, even with Longwei giving us light.
Cage suddenly yipped and started shying back. He chased after Inculte in the sky for a moment, as if telling the low flying Hybrid to go higher. He turned and started sniffing and whining. I rushed over to make sure he was alright; it seemed he had dropped the necklace. He turned sad eyes to me and I scratched his neck comfortingly.
“We’ll find it. It has to be here somewhere.”
Cyan scrambled around the path excitedly going left, then right, venturing further and further down the path we had just traveled. He squealed loudly and skittered back over to us, the chain and pendant clutched in his mouth.
“There, all better.” I say hugging Cage closer and giving the Rodent Mirki a carrot from my pack. “May as well set up camp here for the night.” I declare after Cage’s scare.
Longwei landed blending in with the night and Lady took up a sentry position near the tip of his tail. Cyan, Cage and I curled up against his long warm body and settle in a warm cuddle against the cold mountain air.

Actions: Its summer. . . . I hate summer. At least the nights are bad. Good thing because all I feel tonight is a need to walk, so I do.
I leave my home and start walking. Past the glade, near the near pond, on a bridge till finely I find my self near the cold pond close to the Northern plains.
Its a shock that I made it this far, to bad I was not paying attention. My feet hurt so badly now I don't know if I can get home. So I decide to take a break and dip my feet into the wonderfully cool water to help ease the pain.
