Description
So, I had a really good art day in class today; things just worked (unlike my past days of sketching where it looks like sketchy creatures had a war through my notes).Rifkims - I didn't want to stray too far from the original pose, but I wanted it to be a bit more dynamic and updated. If anyone wants to red line the wings, feel free; large leathery wings are not my strong point when it comes to anatomical correctness and positioning. XD The wings have four fingers (in the wing) and a "thumb" (the talon); they also have a secondary bone/stretch of cartilage for the base of the wing where there is now a pointed part. The wings are connected to the body from the shoulder to the hips.
The red sketch below it is an overhead of what the wing shape looks like.
Ikeda - It needed an anatomy update. Cx But other than that, the pose hasn't changed. I need some input on the ears: you obviously see the two sets of conflicting ears. The pointing forward ones reflect the original template, but the backwards tilted ones are the way the sketch came out today.
Feline Mikri - I know, you're probably thinking, 'didn't these already get a re-line?'. Yes, yes they did. But the paws on the new-old lines were bothering me as was the tail a bit, so yeah. The faint lines you see buzzing around the sketches are the anatomy change lines that would have to be incorporated also. I wanted to stay with a sitting pose again. I personally like the left one because it gives more body to show markings on (also the attitude XD), but the right one has the cuter look and the forward-looking face.
Let me know which one you like better of the two that are there?
17:50 Edit// in my second class today I also doodled and I have decided to use the backwards laying ears on the ikeda. I have a mutation planned that works best with the ears like that.
I am also aware of a potential head size problem for the rifkim and the feline; I will look into those.

I really like the rifkim's paws, they're so dainty yet almost plush looking! Overall a very precious looking pet.
Both of the feline mikries are nice, but I definitely agree about the left one showing off more of the markings, and the added attitude is downright epic. x3

The new Ikeda lines are simply awesome, make the creature look really majestic now! c:
I like the Feline Mikri on the left better, although the position of the hind leg is maybe too low and makes it look too short? (I have been checking my cats before writing this, so yeah that leg possibly looks shorter than it should be).
I like the dynamic pose of the Rifkim a lot, once those wings are finished with all the details they'll look just great.

The wings on the rifkin look a bit funny where it connects to the shoulder up into the fold of the wing, like it looks too long.
I like the tilted back ears for the Ikeda C:
and as for the FM I say go with your original choice the one on the left looks much better to me.

I love the right Feline Mikri best. What an adorable face! For the Iked, I like the pointing forward ears. Laid back ears make an animal look angry, too me. The Rifkim just looks awesome. C=

I do like the face on the right one, but I'm leaning heavily towards the left.
For the ikeda, I may try lifting the ears a little bit.

The rifkim head and the feline mikri heads look odd to me, possibly a bit too small compared to the body size. Besides that the pose for the rifkin I like and I like the side pose (left one) for the mikri. For the mikri you want to show off the markings so I think the one to the left would be best plus it looks better to me and more fitting. Could be because I live with a sassy cat who is I see from the front either looks grumpy or derpy but from the side looks elegant, sassy, and sometime grumpy/demonic.
For the ikeda, I think the ears should face back, it looks more like a deer that way because to me then facing forward almost looks llama like. Idk why, maybe because I just watched emperor's new groove so I have llama on the brain or something.

Alright, I just felt bad saying something negative. For the Mikri, could possibly the ears maybe too big too? Just looking at your sketch and the lines that you have now, the ears look bigger in the sketch. I don't know if you also wanted to make their ears bigger or not in the new lines. Also, the tail in the side view looks a lot fluffier which I really like. ((Looking at the sketch now on my comp compared to my phone)) Another thing that I am noticing is that the torso looks a little long too, correcting that could help with portioning the head as well.

With the Ikeda I am a bit surprised that I really like the tilted ears the best. Usually I like ears that stick up. XD
Also I love the bottom left Mikri. The side bit is adorable.

Rifkims: I like the dynamic pose, show off a different angle of the body and a different view of the wings.
Ikeda; I like point back like with the Ikid.
Feline Mikri: I like the look of the left one too. We need a pose with the best view of markings.

The feline Mikri's and rifkim's heads looks a little small, I think. But I like the Ikeda sketch. And for the ears, I prefer the ones that are down, seems more goat-like to me. I also like the feline Mikri on the left, just because it's more similar to what we have currently and I always loved that pose for them x3

The backwards tilt would allow for a horned anatomy change, which is why I like it.
The frontwards are more to the original and a bit more perky, which is why I like that. XD
I also seem to see forward as more masculine and the backward as more feminine?

AAhhh So I was super apprehensive about the Mikris changing, but as a person who collects Feline Mikris I support both of those line changes!
While I like the pose to the left, it is also harder to connect the face to the body if you ever have a marking that does that. You seem to shoot yourself in the foot a lot when it comes to connecting the two. xD
But at the same time I love the fact that we get to see more of the back, and for marking like Mygic I think it would just be lovely.
Also if you give the option I think I will totally update a few of my Dominant marking Mikris when the chart is updated.
SO EXCITED AMG! *dances*
Love the Rifkim too. :3

There aren't really any markings that travel up the front of the body/neck. Cx And if I ever did implement one, I would make it work. It's not the same awkward as the dawnbird.

piceouswings In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-09-17 21:37:08 +0000 UTC]
I was actually picturing the Feline Mikri x Feral Avis hybrid pose in reference to the awkwardness, some of the markings that trail down the neck onto the chest area don't make any sense really.
But looking back over just the Feline Mikri markings you are right xD

Later I'll do some redlines on the rifkim wings ^^
As for the ikeda, I muuuuch prefere the forward facing ears
I like the left FM one, though the face is bugging me. I can see what would need to be changed, so I could redline that at the same time that I do the rifkims later ^^

(I added an overhead of what the rifkim wings look like, if that helps you).
FM - Is it the muzzle? Cx

lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-09-18 03:22:55 +0000 UTC]
Ya it really is the muzzle XD makes them look more rabbit-ey than feline-ey
For the rifkim are the fingers on the wings straight or are they jointed like a bat's? That greatly changes how they can be folded and used, and fingers would work a lot better (since bats fly by "scooping" the air with their wings rather than just beating them like one might think) biologically anyway. I'll probably just draw a few options anyway via multiple redlines.
Also, would it be a big deal if I did multiple anatomy fixes or do you just want the redlines on the wings? I'm just noticing some weirdness with the back legs (they look a bit squishy/boneless) and the body itself (it's REALLY LONG) but the front legs are looking good ouo

SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-09-18 03:37:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah feline muzzles are another weak point. XD
The fingers are jointed; the wings themselves are very much like a bat's.
You can do other red lines, if you want. The body is supposed to be long; the wing in the back isn't joined to the back right, so the area around the shoulder blades is a little out of whack.(I wasn't going to fuss too much with it in the pencil). And the legs are supposed to be a little "squishy", I actually took the idea for the feet from Dreamworks' night fury; of having a wider pad/palm and small phalanges. Cx

Alrighty~
And the squishiness is a problem for the simple reason that it looks like the bones are gone in the leg itself. It'll make more sense when I show you the redline ^^
The length is probably bugging me because there is no pelvis/ribcage so really no place for organs.
