When she comes up on us I'm a little surprised. I knew Kiyumars had assisted me during this exploration so I was expecting someone who looked like him, but I can't help but laugh in delight at the Corpon's feathered tail as she slithers her way over to me. She's perfect for the weather out here too. Yellow parade paint in the middle of a hot desert? And she looks like she has cute little suns all over her. I think one thing about snakes is that most people are scared of him, so despite her colors many people would fear her just by seeing her, but the way she ends up slithering up to me and that forked tongue darts out onto my cheek has me smiling. Compared to the rest of the corpons, given I've only seen them from a distance, she seems so domestic and calm. Of course, though, as we head home this time around more than anything I think I'm excited to show her to Madi. Madi's corpon is gorgeous and I have always loved him from afar, but my new friend has colors right up Madi's alleyway and I know she'll love her.

By the time we're home and my new friend has "snaked" her way into the hearts of all the pets I brought along with me, I catch her attention by clearing my throat. "What about Idalia? For a name, I mean. It means 'behold the sun' in Greek and I figure it fits you. You have suns all over you and you're so bright and pretty."

And so she's henceforth Idalia, and I couldn't love her more uvu <3
