Easter is a frantic holiday ... to start with that is! There's always lots of church in the morning, though normally only for Mom and I because we sing in the choir, all three services! (though Dad will come occasionally to hear the music and make Mom happy more than for any religious reasons - we're a lot alike in that respect, I just adore singing.) Then home for the holiday, we get to be 'surprised' with out Easter baskets, some with more adult goodies than others, whiskey makes the holiday more fun, then Mom cooks lamb and I pretend to like it, Dad hogs the mint sauce, Brother Sister and I fight over Yorkshire Puddings. There's nothing quite as amazing as sitting around a slightly too small table with mismatched chairs to accompany all the people, family, significant others, and as always friends we've invited who have no where else to be. Topped off with our eating all the chocolate we can stomach it's a holiday I'm sad to have missed two years running because of my travels.

since the passing of my sister a while back we seldom do anything to acknowledge the day.
We used to color and hide eggs, laugh throughout the day, perhaps make the kids do a bit of karaoke,
all of this after nibbling all morning on sweet treats. later in the day we would cook a meal that had been pre agreed on,
then all of us would eat to much then argue good naturedly over a movie.
These days we all put on a smiling mask and be pleasant to one another ^.^

before I describe what we do for Easter, here's some trivia as to why we have Easter bunnies and little chick-peeps in the first place~!
ok~ so there's this Pagan tradition called the Feast of Ishtar. (sounds like Easter ;D) and it's a fertility festival, bunnies and chicks, lamp too are feature points of this festival. So the Pagans have been doing this long before Christ was born. but as history would have it, the two events of Christ rising and the Pagan feast occur on similar dates. and that it why with have bunnies and chicks, peeps and whatnot.
Claim; Ishtar
Now for Easter my family and I used to go to brunch at the Double Tree Hotel because there was so much stuff and as a little kid it all seemed like a grand feast to me (I always tried to eat a lot of bacon and doughnuts) there was even an Easter bunny there who handed out candy. Occasionally I would grudge about not eating enough say... bacon, so I would pledge the next year that I would eat nothing but that (it was silly really.) But that's another story. Continuing on~ my parents used to always hide eggs for my brother and I outside or some years in the house. (they had to be prepared because we always woke up early that day and Christmas.) in addition to the egg hunts (which I always won =w= ) my brother and I could count on finding a basket of goodies on the table waiting for us. (usually with a chocolate rabbit, in which case the ears and head were always eaten first.) Some years we've gone to church, other years not. Us going to church is dependent on who is with us at the time. If we have family visiting, we go to church, if it's just us, then we usually do not attend service. But the majority of the day is celebrated with food and sometimes dressing up in spring dresses to go out~

One of my uncles always visits us and brings chocolate eggs, so although we don't do anything special, there's quite a lot of delicious Swiss chocolate to nibble on :3

Like every year, we celebrate easter with a brunch. The last years there where just me, my two younger sisters and there boyfriends. Today there will be our mother and her boyfriend too. Easter is my favourite holiday. The one and only holiday that doesnt give me sad feelings. I know it will be a great day. Im up since 5 AM to bake 'Buchteln'. Im from switzerland but the recipe is a speciality from Austria. My sister did a cheesecake yesterday and yeah, Im sure at the end of this day I will be full and fat like a big rollmop because of all of that awesome food. xD
I have to hurry up and get everything done. *__*
Wish you a happy easter too <3

When I was a child, my parents hid Easter baskets around the house for me to find. As I got older and the nieces and nephews aged as well, it became more of a generic family gathering, without anything all that special about it. However, when I entered the work force, Easter was just another day of work for me. Retail workers don't get days off anymore, certainly not religious holidays like Easter. So my Easter tradition now is to go to work, just like any other day.

Usually we just do the normal egg hunt at our house, But this year was different; We got to go to the park, Where they were having an egg hunt sponsored by some stores and places in town. I was just one year older than the age limit for the older kids' hunting place, But I didn't want to cheat like my brother wanted me too x3 We got some candy, And two of my siblings got picked from a raffle sort of thing where we all put our names in. My brother got a toy Rubik's cube sort of thing and my little sister got a chocolate bunny :3
My little niece is turning three in a few days, And we just had the party today as well as the egg hunt. c:

I don't do much for Easter my mom used to just throw a bag with a candy bar in it at me when I woke up every morning but that's about it. I never got to go easter egg hunting as a kid, well not big ones with other people just single ones by myself in the backyard ^^

For Easter my family first goes into our living room on Easter morning and we receive our Easter Baskets, taking turns to share what we received with each other and thank my mom (who buys most of the candy). Then we sit at the table and dye eggs together and finally we have a special dinner (This year's is meatloaf.)

When I was younger Easter was a loooot of fun. My parents would set up an Easter Egg hunt and fill all the eggs with candy, and when we would wake up there would be baskets of goodies waiting for us. My sister's basket looked like a bunny, and mine looked like a lamb, and they would be filled with candy and we would get movies and jewelry and whatever other little trinkets our parents wanted to give us every year. Then we'd go easter egg hunting and we'd have Easter Dinner later that day.
Now that we're older, instead of hunting for easter eggs, we'll put on old t-shirts and take real eggs and dyes and paintbrushes and we'll paint our own easter eggs.
We all sit down early afternoon for a nice Easter Dinner filled with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, rolls, and whatever else we feel like having that year! C:

Normally, my family would hide chocolate eggs and the younger kids would go hunt for them, and in the evening we would all go to my grandma's for dinner. This year I work and my bro is most likely just staying home (gonna make him run errands for me ahaha), so we're not doing anything special.

We have a family Easter dinner. For some reason, my mother always cooks ham for Easter. When my kids were younger, we always did the colouring eggs and egg hunt thing. I'm kinda said they're too old for that now.

When we woke up, we had Easter baskets that would be filled with goodies and random items. All around the neighborhood would be white footprints, made with flour (I know it's flour. I tasted it.) They'd go to all the houses, jump across the street, wander around the park, etc.
When I was around 7-9 and my sister was only 3-6, we'd do Easter egg hunts around my Gramma's house. We'd start in her living room, where there was a ceramic rabbit, who had a sign that could hold papers or post-its. The post-it would give us a hint to where the first egg would be. Each egg would have either a "K" or a "M" on them, indicating who got which egg. (My name starts with M, sister's starts with K.) We'd usually get small little keychains or candy in it, and each egg would have a post-it, telling us where the next egg was. We'd collect about 10 eggs each before going home.
As my sister and I got older, we only did our gift baskets, and would follow the white footprints around the neighborhood to see where they ended and began.

For Easter on my mother's side, we would go to the Yacht club for the Easter Brunch. It would be my parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle, and possibly my cousins. We would enjoy good food, see the baby farm animals that they would bring in, and celebrate the April/May birthdays along with catching up with how each family member is doing. Basically the holiday is used to see family and be with each other.
For my father's side, its basically the same thing except we go to one of my aunt's homes and the entire family on that side would be there. Just a means to get the family together, enjoy each other's company, and have fun.
For both sides of the family, when I was younger, we would look for the eggs that we dyed plus the plastic ones that were filled with goodies along with looking for our Easter basket, and everything was a mixture of being in the house and/or outside. Sadly, due to having to work this year, I can't do any of this, so my mom got me an Easter basket full of goodies and then I am going to have my own special dinner on Easter day.

My family doesn't celebrate Easter but I've been to one before. Basically, my friend's family from all around the globe got together in this big occasion and celebrated it together. There were a ton of eggs for us when we took part in the egg hunt and for some reason, she and her cousins have a weird but cool tradition of letting those floating lanterns go (after they had drawn some Easter related stuff on them) and watching them with the family...

Well, I have not "done anything" with my family for Easter for a long time. The Heck (my husband's family) get together at Granma Rosa's for Easter supper. We would have went this year too, but Brent had to work at another port...and I am still hiding the fact that I am unemployed from the in-laws until I can land another job...so yeah.
But! One thing I used to do when I was younger! The restaurant in town would organize an Easter Day! Coloring Contest with prizes! The Easter Bunny would come to town! And my mom and her co-workers would put together an Easter egg hunt for all us youngsters, complete with clues and running all over town and if you attended, you would nearly for certain get an extra few days out of school after the holidays because there was always at least one sick kid that attended the Hunt (it's how I and many kids of the town got chicken pox when I was 12).
After watching all the fun ways to celebrate Easter, I hope that maybe next year I can help run a Hunt for Climax
