I don't think I'll ever find a spot to explain that in the story, unless I have someone bring it up or insult his heritage. But I do have the reasoning in my back pocket in case I ever need to bring it out.

Oh that's Scout. You'll see him off and on throughout the rest of the story. He'll let Milo know what he thinks and he could be definitely one that could toughen him up.
