Ok, it's terrible pun time again!
So I actually made these about a year ago, but put it to one side as apart from it being a quirky little idea, I wasn't really sure what one does with a wooden spoon guitar! Flash forward a year, and I've still not got a clue - so I'm just posting it here anyway.
And yes, for those of you paying attention, that isΒ piano music in the background. I don't have any guitar music handy, judge me how you want.

I have been looking into how I could do the bent back neck thing that lutes seem to have, but that's probably something for another day. (Can you tell I'm not a string instrument person?)

So far display seems to be winning out for me. Maybe if I make a few more though I'd be less precious about looking after the others and they might just get their turn in the stew pot.

Haha yeah. I did try to think of some way to avoid that issue, but I think in the end they needed the pegs more than they needed to be actually sensible to use. Wait until I finish the cello one though, with the spike on the bottom!

I wonder how it'd hold up to actual use in the kitchen. I assume it'd need to be varnished to waterproof it and protect the design? Two of them could make nice salad tongs as that'd cause less damage than, say, stirring pasta in boiling water.

I like the salad tongs idea, might have to look out for some to play with next...
The pyrography actually holds up pretty well to water - mostly the issue is the rest of the wood getting stained too dark for the contrast to show up well. At least that's based on my experience with the spatula I burned with a smiley face symbol back in uni to stop my flatmates using it, and which survived a lot of use and abuse over the years.
